Gig Buddies is a project that pairs adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults with volunteers who share the same interests โ especially live music and events.
Simple concept.
Massive impact.
It started in Sussex and has grown into a wider movement across the UK.
The mission?
Make sure no one misses out on the cultural life of their community just because they donโt have someone to go with.

Gig Buddies matches people based on shared interests.
Into metal?
Theyโll find you a metal mate.
Love pop?
Sorted.
Obsessed with indie?
Thereโs a buddy for that.
Then they go to gigs together. Festivals. Club nights. Comedy shows. Whatever floats their boat.
Not carers.
Not support workers.
Friends.
Thatโs the key.

Live music is about belonging.
Itโs about standing in a room full of strangers and suddenly feeling like youโre not alone.
But if you canโt access that space comfortably, you miss out on something powerful.
