Fleetwood Mac through a heavy metal filter? Oh yes, mun. Doro Pesch has unleashed a thunderous new version of the legendary “Go Your Own Way” — and she’s brought some serious firepower along for the ride.
The Queen of Metal has teamed up with Whitesnake guitarist Joel Hoekstra and Sepultura drummer Greyson Nekrutman to transform one of Fleetwood Mac’s most recognisable songs into something considerably heavier.
And somehow, it works spectacularly well.
Released on 2 September 2026, Doro’s version of “Go Your Own Way” is the latest taste of the forthcoming tribute album Steel Rumours – The Songs Of Fleetwood Mac Reforged In Metal, which is due to land on 20 November 2026.
Yes.
Steel Rumours.
That title alone deserves a devil-horns salute. 🤘
🎸 Fleetwood Mac… But Make It METAL
Originally appearing on Fleetwood Mac’s colossal 1977 album Rumours, “Go Your Own Way” is one of those songs practically welded into rock history.
You know the chorus.
Your parents know the chorus.
The bloke three tents down at Download Festival who hasn’t slept since Thursday probably knows the chorus.
But Doro and company haven’t simply turned the amps up and called it a day.
This version takes the familiar foundations of the Fleetwood Mac classic and sends them stomping into much heavier territory.
Hoekstra brings the sharpened guitars, Nekrutman supplies the heavyweight rhythmic attack behind the kit, while Doro’s unmistakably gritty voice gives the whole thing a darker, harder edge.
The result feels less like politely covering Fleetwood Mac and more like parking a massive German tour bus outside Rumours, unloading the amps and yelling:
“RIGHT THEN — LET’S MAKE THIS HEAVY.”
👑 Doro Pesch Takes Centre Stage
Few voices are better suited to this sort of experiment than Doro Pesch.
From her days fronting Warlock through decades as one of heavy metal’s most recognisable figures, Doro has built her career on powerful vocals, huge choruses and enough metal credibility to flatten a festival beer tent.
Speaking about tackling the Fleetwood Mac favourite, Doro said:
“I’ve always liked the song. And it was fun to give it a new twist—especially with a great guitarist like Joel Hoekstra and powerhouse drummer Greyson Nekrutman.”
That “new twist” is putting it mildly.
Because alongside Doro’s unmistakable delivery, Hoekstra gets the opportunity to put his own stamp on the song’s famous guitar work.
And when you’ve got a guitarist with Whitesnake, Night Ranger and Trans-Siberian Orchestra on his CV, you’re hardly expecting him to turn up with an acoustic guitar and behave himself.

🥁 Sepultura Power Behind The Kit
Then there’s Greyson Nekrutman.
The Sepultura drummer brings exactly the sort of muscle you’d expect behind this reworked version, helping push “Go Your Own Way” away from its classic-rock foundations and towards something built for the metal crowd.
It’s an unlikely combination on paper:
Fleetwood Mac + Doro + Whitesnake + Sepultura.
That’s the sort of musical equation you normally invent after your fourth pint at a festival.
Yet here we are.
And we’re not complaining.

Doro’s contribution is part of the brilliantly titled:
Steel Rumours – The Songs Of Fleetwood Mac Reforged In Metal
The tribute collection is scheduled for release on 20 November and brings together musicians from across the rock and metal world to tear into the Fleetwood Mac catalogue.
Among the names involved are musicians associated with Femme Fatale, Blackmore’s Night, Nashville Pussy, Judas Priest, Rainbow and Black Sabbath, alongside plenty more.
And the songs getting the heavy treatment aren’t exactly obscure B-sides either.
The project reaches across Fleetwood Mac’s extraordinary history, with songs including:
- Black Magic Woman
- The Green Manalishi (With The Two Pronged Crown)
- Rhiannon
- Dreams
- Gypsy
- Little Lies
- Everywhere
Even Stevie Nicks’ solo favourite “Edge of Seventeen” is getting dragged into the metallic madness.
Frankly, we’re fascinated.
🔥 Fleetwood Mac Songs Were Built For This
Here’s the interesting bit.
Fleetwood Mac might be remembered by millions for the beautifully polished rock of albums such as Rumours, but their history contains far more grit than casual listeners sometimes realise.
The band’s early years were steeped in blues, while songs including “The Green Manalishi” have already demonstrated just how naturally Fleetwood Mac material can cross over into heavier territory.
Judas Priest famously recorded their own version of “The Green Manalishi (With The Two Pronged Crown)”, turning it into a long-standing part of their heavy metal arsenal.
So perhaps a Fleetwood Mac metal tribute isn’t quite as bonkers as it initially sounds.

We love a cover version that actually has the guts to change something.
There’s nothing wrong with faithfully recreating a classic, but when you’re tackling something as universally recognised as “Go Your Own Way”, you’ve got to bring your own personality to the party.
Doro certainly does.
Throw in Joel Hoekstra ripping into the guitar work and Greyson Nekrutman hammering away behind the kit, and you’ve got a version designed for listeners who always suspected Fleetwood Mac could use just a little more METAAAAAL! 🤘🔥
Purists might clutch their original Rumours vinyl slightly tighter.
The rest of us?
