The hugely popular Ozzy Osbourne exhibition is preparing to close its doors on 27 September after attracting more than 800,000 visitors – proving once again that the Prince of Darkness remains one of the biggest names Birmingham has ever unleashed upon the world.

More than 800,000 people. 🤯🖤

That’s not a festival attendance figure. That’s not a stadium tour total.

That’s the staggering number of visitors who have reportedly flocked to see the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition celebrating one of heavy metal’s most important, outrageous and downright legendary figures.

But all good things eventually have to crank out one final riff.

The exhibition is now set to finish on Sunday, 27 September 2026, giving fans just a few more weeks to experience it before the doors close.

And judging by those visitor numbers, plenty of metalheads may fancy one last pilgrimage. 🤘

🦇 800,000 VISITORS – ABSOLUTELY BONKERS!

Reaching more than 800,000 visitors is an incredible achievement for an exhibition dedicated to a rock and heavy metal icon.

Then again, this isn’t just anybody we’re talking about.

This is Ozzy bloody Osbourne.

From the industrial streets of Birmingham to fronting Black Sabbath, helping forge the sound of heavy metal and then building an enormous solo career, Ozzy became far more than simply another rock singer.

He became part of British popular culture.

The voice. The laugh. The madness. The music.

And, of course, enough legendary stories to keep rock journalists busy until approximately 2147.

The enormous response to the exhibition shows just how much affection remains for Ozzy and how deeply his story resonates with generations of music fans.

🏭 BIRMINGHAM AND OZZY – YOU CAN’T SEPARATE THEM

There couldn’t be a more appropriate place to celebrate Ozzy than Birmingham.

The city isn’t simply somewhere he happened to come from – Birmingham is woven into the DNA of the music.

Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward emerged from Birmingham and, as Black Sabbath, helped create something heavier, darker and more sinister than much of what had come before.

Those crushing riffs would ultimately influence generations of musicians.

Heavy metal history runs straight through the West Midlands.

And Ozzy remained one of its most recognisable sons.

That’s why seeing hundreds of thousands of people turn up to celebrate his life and career feels particularly special.

It’s not merely rock nostalgia.

It’s Birmingham celebrating one of its own. 🖤

🎸 A CAREER THAT CHANGED HEAVY MUSIC FOREVER

Trying to squeeze Ozzy’s impact on rock and metal into a single exhibition is a bit like trying to fit the Download Festival campsite into your back garden.

Good luck with that, mun.

His career stretches across decades of extraordinary music and rock ‘n’ roll history.

There are the groundbreaking Black Sabbath years that gave us songs including “Paranoid”, “War Pigs”, “Iron Man” and “Black Sabbath”.

Then came the solo career.

Blizzard of Ozz.

Diary of a Madman.

Bark at the Moon.

No More Tears.

Ozzmosis.

And plenty more besides.

Along the way came unforgettable collaborations, enormous tours, Ozzfest, television fame and enough chaos to fill several autobiographies.

But underneath all the madness was something far more important:

the music.

That’s ultimately why people kept coming back.

🖤 MORE THAN AN EXHIBITION

The incredible turnout also says something about the relationship rock fans have with the artists who soundtrack their lives.

You don’t get 800,000+ people walking through the doors because they’re mildly interested.

People come because those songs mean something.

Maybe Black Sabbath was the band their dad introduced them to.

Maybe Crazy Train was their gateway into heavy metal.

Maybe they saw Ozzy live decades ago.

Maybe they discovered Sabbath through a battered record collection and suddenly realised music could sound terrifying and brilliant at exactly the same time.

That connection passes from generation to generation.

And that’s why Ozzy’s legacy is so enormous.

📅 LAST CHANCE: 27 SEPTEMBER

For anyone still hoping to experience the exhibition, the clock is officially ticking.

📅 Final day: Sunday, 27 September 2026

After welcoming more than 800,000 visitors, this remarkable celebration of the Prince of Darkness will finally come to an end.

So if you’ve been saying:

“We’ll go eventually…”

Well…

Eventually has just been given a deadline. 😈

Get Birmingham in the sat-nav, grab your battle jacket and make the pilgrimage while you still can.

🤘 THE RIFF REPORT SAYS…

More than 800,000 visitors for an Ozzy Osbourne exhibition?

That’s absolutely massive.

But perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised.

Ozzy’s influence extends far beyond album sales, chart positions or sold-out concerts. His story is intertwined with the history of heavy metal itself – and Birmingham’s place at the very centre of that story.

Decades after those first monstrous Black Sabbath riffs crawled out of Brum, people are still travelling to celebrate the bloke who stood behind the microphone.

That’s legacy.

That’s heavy metal history.

And that’s Ozzy Osbourne. 🦇🖤

The exhibition closes 27 September 2026.

One last chance to pay your respects to the Prince of Darkness.

Birmingham gave the world heavy metal – and more than 800,000 visitors have turned up to say thank you.

🤘 Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Zero Apologies.
