🎤 WHO THEY ARE
Formed in the early ’70s but truly exploding in the ’80s, Twisted Sister became one of rock’s loudest, most defiant voices. Led by the unstoppable Dee Snider (a man whose hair has more volume than a Marshall stack), the band fused glam metal’s theatricality with punk’s sneering attitude. Their mission? To piss off authority and make you sing your lungs out while doing it.
🎸 THE SOUND
Think anthemic choruses, chunky power chords, and enough attitude to start a riot in a church. Songs like:

Before Mötley Crüe smeared their lipstick or Poison teased their hair, Twisted Sister were already scaring small children on MTV. The pink-and-black spandex, war paint, and horror-movie eyeliner made them look like a cross between KISS and RuPaul’s Drag Race on steroids — but it worked.
🧨 THE LEGACY
Dee Snider didn’t just front the band — he fronted the PMRC in court. When Tipper Gore and the moral crusaders tried to censor rock lyrics in the ’80s, Snider showed up looking like a rock god and spoke like a lawyer. His testimony became legend.

🎸 CURRENT STATUS
The band officially split (again) after their farewell shows in 2016, but Dee Snider keeps the flame burning with solo work, political hot takes, and Christmas metal albums (because of course). 🎅🤘

In 1984, Twisted Sister were actually banned from MTV daytime play for being “too shocking.” Meanwhile, today you can’t scroll TikTok without seeing worse before breakfast. Only in the ’80s, mun! 😂
