Ozzfest has officially confirmed plans to return in 2027, with the resurrected heavy metal festival heading to Villa Park in Birmingham, England — a venue now forever intertwined with the incredible legacy of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.
Yep. OZZFEST. VILLA PARK. 2027.
C’mon mun… this could be absolutely enormous. 🤘🏟️🔥
The confirmation follows earlier comments from Sharon Osbourne, who revealed plans to bring Ozzfest back following Ozzy’s death in July 2025.
And if you’re going to resurrect one of heavy metal’s most famous festivals, there aren’t many places on Earth more appropriate than Birmingham.
🦇 Ozzfest Returns Home to Birmingham
Birmingham isn’t merely another city on the touring map.
It’s heavy metal holy ground.
The city gave the world Black Sabbath, and Villa Park became part of metal history when Sabbath reunited for the monumental Back To The Beginning event on 5 July 2025.
That extraordinary day saw Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward reunite onstage, with Ozzy also delivering his final solo performance.
It would become even more poignant following Ozzy’s death just weeks later on 22 July 2025, aged 76.
Now Villa Park is preparing to welcome the metal community back again.
This time, it’ll be under the Ozzfest banner.
There couldn’t be a more fitting location.
🔥 From Back To The Beginning to a New Beginning
There’s something incredibly powerful about Ozzfest returning to the same ground where Ozzy said goodbye.
Back To The Beginning wasn’t simply another massive stadium gig.
It was a celebration of the foundations of heavy metal itself.
Some of the biggest names in rock and metal descended upon Birmingham to pay tribute to Black Sabbath and Ozzy, turning Villa Park into what felt like the centre of the heavy metal universe.
Now Ozzfest has the opportunity to continue that legacy.
Rather than attempting to replace Ozzy — because let’s face it, nobody ever could — the revived festival can become an annual celebration of everything he helped create.
Heavy music.
New bands.
Established monsters.
Complete chaos.
And thousands of metalheads descending on Birmingham.

🎤 What Do We Know About Ozzfest 2027?
At the moment, we’re still waiting for the really juicy stuff.
The exact date and full line-up have yet to be announced.
However, discussions with artists are reportedly already underway as preparations continue for Ozzfest’s return.
And that’s where things get interesting.
Because the Ozzfest name carries some serious weight.
Over the years, the festival hosted an absolutely ridiculous collection of bands, including some that would go on to become giants of modern metal.
If the 2027 edition manages to capture even a fraction of that spirit, we could be looking at one of the biggest metal events Britain has seen in years.

That would be huge.
For an entire generation of American metalheads, Ozzfest wasn’t simply another festival.
It was a pilgrimage.
The festival helped expose enormous audiences to emerging metal bands while placing them alongside some of the biggest established names on the planet.
A genuine Ozzfest return on both sides of the Atlantic could therefore become something much bigger than a one-off nostalgia celebration.
It could mark the beginning of an entirely new chapter.
🤘 Remembering the Original Ozzfest
Ozzfest began in 1996 after Ozzy Osbourne was reportedly rejected by Lollapalooza.
The response?
Fine.
We’ll make our own bloody festival.
And what followed became one of the most influential touring festivals in heavy music.
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne helped create a platform where established metal royalty could share bills with younger bands fighting their way through the ranks.

Pubs packed.
Battle jackets everywhere.
Train stations looking like somebody accidentally booked Download Festival indoors.
Someone inevitably dressed as Ozzy.

Perhaps the most important element of the Ozzfest revival is what it represents.
Ozzy Osbourne wasn’t simply the bloke at the front of Black Sabbath.
He became one of the defining personalities in rock and metal history.
His career stretched across generations, from the birth of heavy metal in Birmingham to enormous solo tours, reality television, festival stages and collaborations with artists decades younger than himself.
Ozzfest was another huge part of that legacy.
Bringing it back provides an opportunity to celebrate Ozzy while continuing something he spent decades doing:
giving heavy music a bloody enormous stage.
And that’s the bit we’re particularly excited about.
Because Ozzfest shouldn’t become a museum.
It should be loud.
It should be unpredictable.
It should feature legends alongside bands you’ve never heard of who walk onto an early afternoon stage and leave with 20,000 new fans.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, so we’re not going to start pretending someone’s cousin’s mate who works behind the bar at Villa Park has secretly seen the poster. 😂

There are countless artists with connections to Ozzy, Black Sabbath and the history of Ozzfest who could potentially be involved.
Then you’ve got the modern generation.
