Let’s begin with an absolute beauty.
Sitting at Universal Orlando Resort, the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando combines theme-park madness with rock-star swagger.
And it’s pretty difficult to complain about that combination.
The hotel is packed with music memorabilia, photographs and rock-inspired details, meaning simply wandering around the place can turn into a miniature museum expedition.
But one of the coolest features is Hard Rock’s Sound of Your Stay programme.
Guests can get access to musical experiences including Fender guitars and vinyl record players, depending on availability.
Yes.
You can effectively go:
“Hello, reception? Could you send a guitar upstairs?”

Then there’s the swimming pool.

There are subtle music-themed hotels.
And then somebody in Florida apparently walked into a meeting and said:
“Why don’t we just build the entire bloody hotel in the shape of a guitar?”
Everyone nodded.
And somehow The Guitar Hotel happened.

Part of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood complex, the Guitar Hotel towers over the Florida landscape like someone has dropped a gigantic instrument into the middle of the resort.
The building rises roughly 450 feet into the air, with illuminated beams extending upwards to create the impression of guitar strings disappearing into the sky.
At night, the building becomes part of a spectacular light show.
It is ridiculous.
It is enormous.
It is gloriously over-the-top.
In other words…
It’s rock ‘n’ roll architecture.
Inside you’ll find luxury accommodation, pools, restaurants, entertainment and enough Hard Rock memorabilia to keep music nerds wandering around pointing at things for hours.
If The Riff Report ever builds an office, we’re demanding something similar.

Now THIS is seriously cool.
Berlin already has one of Europe’s greatest musical cultures, so sticking a music-focused hotel into the German capital makes perfect sense.
But nhow Berlin takes things considerably further than hanging a few framed records on the wall.
The hotel has professional recording studios.
Inside the hotel.
Imagine going downstairs for breakfast and accidentally recording your debut EP before lunch.

This place has proper rock ‘n’ roll character.
Musical instruments decorate the hotel, while rooms and communal spaces embrace the music theme rather than hiding it behind generic luxury-hotel nonsense.
There’s a lively bar atmosphere and plenty of music-inspired decoration.
But perhaps the biggest attraction is the location.
You’re staying in Amsterdam, surrounded by one of Europe’s liveliest nightlife and music scenes, with famous venues including Paradiso and Melkweg nearby.

Mexico clearly understood the assignment.
Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos is another enormous resort designed to make normal life feel disappointingly dull when you eventually return home.
Music memorabilia and rock-star styling sit alongside pools, restaurants, entertainment and spectacular surroundings.
The difficult bit?
Going back to work afterwards.
“How was your holiday?”
“Great. Now please stop talking to me while I stare sadly at photographs of the swimming pool.”

We’re talking a sprawling Caribbean resort combining accommodation, entertainment, restaurants, pools, casino action and music memorabilia.
It’s less:
“We’ve booked a hotel.”
And more:
“We’ve temporarily moved into a rock ‘n’ roll kingdom.”
You could probably spend several days wandering around without needing to leave the resort.
Although knowing us we’d still somehow locate the nearest Greggs.
Even if it required crossing an ocean.

🤘 WHY AREN’T THERE MORE METAL HOTELS?!
Here’s our only complaint.
Where are the proper HEAVY METAL hotels?
We want a Black Sabbath hotel in Birmingham.
We want rooms called The Paranoid Suite.
We want lifts playing Iron Maiden.
We want beds shaped like Marshall cabinets.
We want room service delivered by somebody dressed as Eddie.
We want a Motörhead bar where everything is louder than everything else.
And Wales?
Come on, mun.
Give us a Welsh rock hotel somewhere in the Valleys.
Steel walls.
Dragon logos.
Massive guitars.
Breakfast served with enough coffee to resurrect Lemmy.
