🤘 HUGE THANK YOU TO HENRY FROM The Karma Effect ! 🔥

There are interviews… and then there are chats that remind you exactly why rock ‘n’ roll still matters in 2026. 🖤

The Riff Report Blog would like to give a MASSIVE thank you to Henry from The Karma Effect for taking the time to sit down with us for an absolutely brilliant interview ahead of the release of the band’s upcoming album ‘Cruel Intentions’ — landing THIS Friday, 15th May, via Earache Records 🔥

From talking riffs and songwriting to life on the road, influences, the future of the band and the madness of the modern rock scene, the conversation was packed with passion, honesty and the kind of energy that reminds you why grassroots and modern rock music is absolutely thriving right now. 🎸⚡

And let’s be honest here, butt…
The Karma Effect are becoming one of the hottest rising rock bands in the UK right now. FULL STOP.

With massive choruses, swaggering riffs, blues-soaked hooks and a proper old-school rock spirit mixed with a modern edge, the band have been building serious momentum over the last few years — and ‘Cruel Intentions’ feels like the album that could launch them into another league entirely. 🚀

🔥 ‘CRUEL INTENTIONS’ ARRIVES MAY 15TH

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

If you’ve already heard any of the tracks released from the album so far, you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about.

Huge vocals ✔️
Massive guitar work ✔️
Arena-ready choruses ✔️
Enough groove to break your neck ✔️

This isn’t paint-by-numbers rock music.
This is music made for sticky club floors, festival singalongs, beer-soaked venues and long summer drives with the volume turned irresponsibly high. 🍻☀️

And honestly? We are HERE for it.

The album drops on 15th May 2026 through Earache Records and expectations are already sky high across the UK rock scene.

The Karma Effect’s new album ‘Cruel Intentions’ is out 15th May on Earache Records.  Tickets are on-sale now for their newly announced autumn 2026 UK headline tour via https://www.bandsintown.com/a/189932-the-karma-effect

Fresh from the hype surrounding their upcoming album ‘Cruel Intentions’, the band are ready to unleash soaring choruses, thunderous riffs and enough swagger to blow the roof clean off every venue on the run 😈🎸

If you love massive hooks, bluesy hard rock energy and gigs that end with everyone drenched in sweat and screaming the lyrics back at the stage… get yourself involved, butt 🍻

  • Face-melting guitar solos 🎸
  • Beer flying through the air 🍺
  • Rock ‘n’ roll chaos from start to finish 🔥

The Karma Effect have been building serious momentum across the UK rock scene and this tour feels like one of those “catch them before they explode even bigger” moments.

You’ve been warned, mun 😎🤘

🔥NEW ALBUM: CRUEL INTENTIONS🔥

1. First up — Cruel Intentions… that title alone sounds like trouble. What’s the story behind it?

We wanted to create something this time round with a slightly darker undertone. Its still quintessentially our sound, but sonically its a little heavier and deeper. It naturally took that turn just by the material we were writing at that time. An album is a snapshot of your life at that moment, and I guess that’s just where we were at as a band.

2. This is album number three — how does it level up from what you’ve done before? Bigger sound? Bigger risks?

I mean we always aim to be bigger and better. We are very thorough with our sound and songs. We only put out the best we can offer and that means being quite ruthless with your writing. All killer, no filler!

3. What kind of vibe should fans expect when they hit play for the first time?

In essence, the sound of this band has evolved to exactly where we want it to be… It’s big, its funky, its sexy but most importantly it’s us. We have definitely written an album that we want to listen to, let alone play live!

4. Was there a moment in the studio where you thought, “Yeah… this is the one”?

From the minute I finished the final demos, ready to go into the studio, I was listening to them back and I shed a little tear. I worked so hard on this record. So many people say ‘its a labour of love’ and I agree, but we went through a lot to get to where we are now and this album definitely saved our band. I am more proud of the songs on this record compared to anything that has come before.

5. Is there a track on Cruel Intentions that nearly broke you while recording it?

‘Bad Manners’. F**K ME that was a schlep to get right!

6. Which song on the album are you most excited (or nervous 👀) to play live for the first time?

‘Bad Manners!’

7. If you had to describe the album in three words… what are you going with? No overthinking.

Sexy. Groovy. LOUD!

8. Are there any hidden details or Easter eggs fans should listen out for?

Good question… I guess it would have to be the bonus track, ‘Chasing Sunsets,’ on the special edition of the album.

🎶SOUND, STYLE & THAT VINTAGE SWAGGER

9. You’ve carved out that modern-meets-classic rock sound — where does that balance come from?

It’s not something we actively think about. But we draw on the bands we love from the ‘70s and ‘80s and that retro sound and feel that comes with it.  We just decided that whilst so many bands are trying to replicate that sonically, we can bring the whole vibe and transport it to now with a much more polished sound.

10. Who are the biggest influences creeping into this album, whether you meant them to or not?

There is a slightly darker feel to this record, but we draw on what we love from bands like Aerosmith and The Black Crowes. We also love country music, new and old, so there are definitely some classic country vibes in there also.

11. What makes a Karma Effect riff hit the way it does — what’s the secret sauce?

For us, it’s all about the funk… It has to have an immediate groove to it. We love it to have a natural swing. It obviously also has to have a hard edge to it, but ultimately we are a melodic band and every riff has to be able to be sung by the crowd as much as with my vocal.

12. Is there a completely unexpected artist or genre that’s influenced this album?

The biggest guilty pleasure this band has in its locker would probably be something like Taylor Swift, purely because I think having pop melodies is so important with any sort of music (as that is what people naturally want to sing along to).

13. What’s a song (not your own) you wish you’d written?

I wish I had written Don Henley’s ‘Boys Of Summer’ because I think it just might be THE perfect song.

14. You’ve got a full UK headline tour lined up — how buzzing are you to get these songs in front of a crowd?

I think it’s safe to say that we are so excited to get out and play for everyone… We’re a live band first and foremost and pride ourselves on our live show. Everything else is important, but the actual getting out there and tearing it up is literally the best.

🎤HITTING THE ROAD – UK TOUR CHAOS

Band promo poster featuring five musicians in dark outfits with the 'The Karma Effect' logo at the top and 'Cruel Intentions Album Tour' across the middle. Includes tour dates text at the bottom.

15. What can fans expect from a Karma Effect show in 2026 — bigger production, more chaos, more everything?

Definitely a bigger show. We want to add as much as we can to the UK tour this autumn. We feel like this album deserves all the bells and whistles, so we are really going to go out of our way to make it happen.

16. Do you approach a headline tour differently compared to support slots?

With a support slot, you maybe only have maximum 40 minutes, so we play a selection of our hits and also songs we know we can absolutely crush onstage. It’s all about the pace – we try and keep our support slots as pacey as possible.

17. Be honest — who’s the worst behaved on tour? 👀

ROBBIE F**KING BLAKE!  CLOSELY followed by ME.

18. What’s the one thing you must have on the road or the whole tour falls apart?

BEER!!

19. What’s been your most “this could only happen on tour” moment so far?

There was one night after a show when we decided to drive through the night, and we ended up driving into the grounds of a castle!  And we couldn’t find our way out of it.

20. Any rituals before hitting the stage, or is it just chaos and vibes?

There are no major rituals… We just like to go onstage in a positive mood, making each other laugh and feel relaxed about going out to tear it up.

🤘FANS, GIGS & PROPER MOMENTS

21. What’s the best crowd you’ve ever played to — and what made it special?

Our first time ‘going up the mountain’ at Steelhouse was really special. It was one of our first major rock festivals and the crowd that awaited us was so special.

🖤 SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT MUSIC MEDIA

We also want to give another huge shoutout to Henry and the band for supporting independent music journalism and taking the time to speak with The Riff Report Blog.

Independent music sites, grassroots bands, venues, promoters and fans all help keep this scene alive. It’s the community spirit that makes rock and metal different from everything else out there.

No fake hype.
No corporate nonsense.
Just real people keeping real music alive. 🤘

And that’s exactly why conversations like this matter.

🔥 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT

The Karma Effect are absolutely on the rise right now and ‘Cruel Intentions’ could easily become one of the standout UK rock albums of 2026.

Massive thanks again to Henry for the interview, the laughs and the stories — and we genuinely cannot wait to hear the full album and catch the band tearing up venues across the UK later this year.

Get the album pre-ordered.
Get the tour tickets booked.
And get ready for one hell of a rock ‘n’ roll year. 🔥🤘
