Maid of Stone Festival 2025 โ€“ Saturday Review

The Good, The Bad & The Bloody Ridiculous

After Fridayโ€™s explosive mix of monster riffs and portaloo horrors (read: Tidy Times & Toilet Terrors if you missed it), we were hopeful โ€“ cautiously optimistic, like a metalhead in white trainers on a muddy hillside โ€“ that Saturday would be a redemption arc.

Did it deliver? Mostly. Did it still include chaos, confusion, and crisps masquerading as meals? Absolutely. Letโ€™s dive into the madness.

๐ŸŽฏ THE GOOD โ€“ “Lush vibes, legendary riffs, and curry that slapped!”

๐ŸŽธ BLACK STONE CHERRY HEADLINE LIKE GODS

Kent was blessed tonight. Black Stone Cherry headlined Saturday like they were born on that stage. Chris Robertsonโ€™s voice? Untouchable. Ben Wellsโ€™ energy? Like someone put lightning in a human body and handed it a Les Paul. From โ€œBlind Manโ€ to โ€œWhite Trash Millionaire,โ€ they had the entire park jumping, fist-pumping, and singing like we were in Kentucky, not Maidstone.

The set closer โ€œLonely Trainโ€ felt spiritual. Even the security guards were humming it. No pyro needed โ€“ this was fire already ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ’‹ THE TREATMENT โ€“ SLEAZE, SPEED, STYLE

If rock โ€˜nโ€™ roll ever needs a new poster band, itโ€™s these boys. Hair everywhere, attitude for days, and riffs dirtier than the loos after dark. They smashed through โ€œLet It Beginโ€ like theyโ€™d stolen our souls and were giving them back one solo at a time.

We saw one nan headbanging on the barrier. Legends only.

๐Ÿง’ MINI MOSHERS WELCOME

Who said rock festivals can’t be family-friendly? Saturday gave us Mini Moshers, a bouncy castle, glitter painting, and tiny ear defenders everywhere. One 6-year-old in a Rammstein shirt screamed โ€œSLIPKNOT RULES!โ€ at a food vendor. We donโ€™t even know if Slipknot played, but we respect the energy. Tidy job, tiny rocker ๐Ÿค˜

๐Ÿ› FOOD TRUCK REDEMPTION

Fridayโ€™s โ€œmystery meat in a bunโ€ vibe was binned off in favour of actual spice and flavour. Enter Rock โ€˜nโ€™ Roll Tikka โ€“ ยฃ10 for chicken madras, naan, and bhaji? TAKE MY MONEY. It mightโ€™ve blown a few heads off spice-wise, but it beat the ยฃ9 burger that tasted like regret.

And the curly fries stall? That queue looked like people waiting to meet Ozzy.

๐Ÿ”Š SOUND (STILL) ON POINT

Another day, another crisp-as-hell sound setup. No feedback, no blown speakers, just pure face-melting audio. Even the warm-up acts sounded album-worthy. Can someone give the sound crew a raise? Or at least a cold drink and a decent portable loo.

๐Ÿ˜ฌ THE BAD โ€“ “Close to perfect… but then it tripped over its own shoelaces.”

๐Ÿ“ฑ SCHEDULE SLIPPERY AS A GREASED FERRET

Look, itโ€™s 2025. We have apps that can predict your dog’s mood based on tail wags, but Maid of Stone couldnโ€™t update a band schedule in real time? South of Salem got shafted by a silent schedule change, leaving fans furious and fuming by the merch stand.

People planned their cider runs and loo breaks around these sets, mun!

๐Ÿฅค SOFT DRINK SODDING NIGHTMARE

ยฃ3.50 for a can of Coke?! Was it chilled with glacial meltwater? Blessed by Lemmyโ€™s ghost? One guy whispered โ€œIs it made of gold?โ€ before walking away in shame. And don’t get us started on the tiny paper cups of squash at ยฃ2. Robbery, plain and simple.

Even the slush machine rebelled โ€“ the blue raspberry turned into blue sadness.

๐Ÿช‘ NO PLACE TO REST THOSE ROCKIN’ CHEEKS

Seating near the stage? An absolute myth. Elder rockers, those with mobility needs, or anyone who fancied not squatting in mud were givenโ€ฆ a handful of chairs and dirty looks. A seated viewing platform would have made a massive difference. Instead, folks were doing the โ€œhover-pee squatโ€ just to stretch their backs.

๐Ÿ’€ THE UGLY โ€“ “Toilets still cursed. Hygiene optional. Security snoozing.”

๐Ÿšฝ TOILET TRAGEDY CONTINUES

Despite Fridayโ€™s toilet apocalypse, Saturdayโ€™s loos were still a crime against the senses. Overflowing. Doorless. Fragrance best described as โ€œIf Satan ate vindaloo and cried.โ€

The campers especially were let down โ€“ promises of nearby facilities turned out to be lies printed on paper more useful than the missing loo roll. We spotted someone walking toward the woods with a roll and a torch like they were on a solo D&D quest.

๐Ÿšฑ WASH STATIONS? WHERE?

Washing hands with actual water remained a fantasy. If you didn’t bring baby wipes, you now live in grime-mode. One poor goth was using Monster Energy as an improvised hand sanitiser. Do better, festival team.

๐Ÿงจ SECURITY MISFIRES

During Black Stone Cherryโ€™s โ€œBlame It on the Boom Boomโ€, a proper scuffle broke out. Took too long for security to react, and by then, a pint (or worse…) had been launched into the mosh. Couldโ€™ve escalated badly. Security: we know you’re tired, but keep one eye open, yeah?

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ FAN QUOTES OF THE DAY

โ€œThe curry was hotter than the lead guitarist and Iโ€™m not mad.โ€ โ€“ Lisa, Rochester

โ€œBSC were biblical. Shame I had to queue 20 minutes to pee afterwards.โ€ โ€“ Matt, Canterbury

โ€œCan someone please update the app before I miss another band and have to console myself with ยฃ12 chips?โ€ โ€“ Sam, London

๐ŸŽค FINAL VERDICT โ€“ SATURDAY SCORE: 7.5/10

Riffs? Spicy. Food? Redeemed. Organisation? Still tripping over its shoelaces.
Saturday delivered the goods โ€“ top bands, proper crowd energy, and even a decent tikka. But the ghost of festival planning chaos still loomed large.

๐Ÿ“ข WHAT NEEDS FIXING BY NEXT YEAR:

  • ๐Ÿ’ฆ Hygiene stations that donโ€™t require a pilgrimage
  • ๐Ÿช‘ Decent seating areas with actual shade
  • ๐Ÿ’ฉ Toilets that donโ€™t make you cry
  • ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Real-time schedules that donโ€™t lie
  • ๐Ÿ™Œ Proper access for everyone
