Well, well, well… this year The Riff Report Blog decided to live a little larger, drink a little colder, and (hopefully) queue a little less. That’s right – we went VIP at Steelhouse Festival 2025, baby! 🏕️🍻

After years of roughing it up the mountain with muddy boots, broken tents, and suspiciously warm cans of Carling, we thought sod it – let’s see what all the VIP fuss is about. But was it really worth the £50 extra on top of the weekend ticket? Or did we just pay for a posh wristband and a fancier port-a-loo?

Here’s the proper breakdown, no fluff, all riff. 🎸👇

🏰 The VIP Setup

Let’s start with the layout. The VIP area at Steelhouse isn’t exactly Glastonbury’s Shangri-La, but it’s a tidy little corner fenced off from the mosh-drenched masses. Think garden party vibes with a heavy metal soundtrack.

You’ve got:

  • ✅ A covered bar with actual flooring (no mud baths here!)
  • ✅ Comfier seating (fold-out chairs instead of damp grass)
  • ✅ Toilets that don’t resemble a scene from Saw
  • ✅ Dedicated food vendors (and shorter queues!)
  • ✅ Power banks for your phone (yes butt, you can finally Instagram your cider without it dying)

The view of the stage? You’re still heading into the main arena for the bands – VIP is for chilling, not watching.

🍻 VIP Bar = VIP Buzz?

One of the biggest perks? The bar. And yeah, it actually made a difference. Drinks were:

  • Faster to get
  • Cold (Hallelujah!)
  • Slightly more expensive than general bar… but worth it when you’re not in a queue that snakes like Iron Maiden riffs.

Bonus: They had Steelhouse exclusive cocktails. We had one called “The Mountain Mosh” – it tasted like fruit punch got punched by Lemmy. 👊🍒

🚽 The Toilet Truth

Let’s be real – THIS is what most people care about.

VIP loos were cleaner, less terrifying, and mostly stocked with bog roll. Not exactly Buckingham Palace, but compared to the chemical war zone outside? A festival miracle. 🧻🎉

⚡ Charging Station & Chill Zone

Charging station was a bit of a godsend – no more asking a hungover stranger for a USB slot. And having somewhere shady and dry to sit that isn’t a bin lid? Diolch, Steelhouse. 🙏

💸 Was It Worth the £50?

Let’s do the math:

  • Shorter bar queues: ✅
  • Clean loos: ✅
  • Chill zone with chairs & cover: ✅
  • No screaming teens spilling hot noodles on your lap: ✅
  • The smug glow of a VIP wristband: ✅✅✅

Verdict: If you’ve done the standard Steelhouse slog before, VIP is a lush upgrade. It won’t get you side-stage with the bands, but it makes the whole weekend less of a warzone and more of a win.

🎤 Final Thoughts

£50 might seem steep, but when you’re three pints deep, legs like jelly, and you really need a civilised toilet – you’ll be high-fiving your past self for splashing out.

Would we do it again? 100%.
Would we recommend it to you? C’mon butt – live a little. 🤘🔥

See you up the mountain, pint in hand and VIP wrist flapping in the wind.
