South London’s blues-rock wrecking crew The Karma Effect are back, louder and swaggering harder than ever, with ‘Waiting On A Miracle’ — the first taste of brand-new studio material since their Top 20-crashing second album Promised Land barged into the Official UK Album Chart like it owned the place. Proper job, that. 🤘🔥

And that’s not all, mun. The band have also pulled the curtain back on their third studio album, Cruel Intentions, landing 15 May 2026 via the mighty Earache Records. Circle the calendar. Tattoo it on your arm. Do what you must.

🎸 ‘Waiting On A Miracle’ – Vintage Soul, Modern Muscle

Powered by frontman Henry Gottelier’s absolutely barn-storming vocals, Waiting On A Miracle is a proper fist-in-the-air rock ’n’ roll anthem. Big riffs, classic soul, and that unmistakable American-leaning swagger — but filtered through a distinctly British lens.

Henry puts it like this:

“‘Waiting On A Miracle’ is an uplifting, vintage-soaked rock ’n’ roll anthem, built on everything we love about classic rock and driven by a hard-hitting riff that channels that unmistakable American sound. Lyrically, the song tells the story of a down-and-out underdog — someone written off as a loser, constantly on the wrong side of luck. But just when the odds seem set, he flips the script, gets the girl, and ends up living a moment that feels like magic. It’s a celebration of unexpected victories and the belief that something better is always just around the corner.”

Sonically, the track tips its hat to the bluesy stomp of Creedence Clearwater Revival, the loose funk and horn-fuelled grit of The Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main Street, and the iconic “Margarita Horns” era of Aerosmith — then turns the whole thing into something unmistakably Karma Effect.

🏗️ Built Fast, Built Loud

Recording kicked off at The Hive Rooms (in the shadow of Gatwick Airport) in July 2025. Four weeks later? Album done. No messing. No overthinking. Just riffs, sweat, and intent.

Cruel Intentions packs 11 brand-new anthems (or 12 if you cadge the bonus edition), including Waiting On A Miracle, and follows last year’s Top 20 album Promised Land, a record that saw the band confidently step into their role as one of British guitar music’s most exciting outfits.

“We want every show to feel massive,” says an ambitious Henry — and this record absolutely delivers on that promise.

🔥 Bigger Hooks, Heavier Hits

The new album captures the visceral atmosphere of the band’s lauded live performances and stands as the most complete, crystal-clear realisation of their ambitions yet: leaner, louder, heavier, and joyously larger-than-life.

Exploring love, lust and danger with dark passion and flashes of cheekiness, these songs balance swagger with wit. The band’s ethos remains modern vintage — polishing the retro sounds they were raised on into something bold, bright and modern.

🎛️ Stadium Sound, Locked In

Working once again with producer Michael Charman, the band also brought in Mercury and GRAMMY-nominated mix engineer Romesh Dodangoda — because subtlety is overrated when you’re aiming for maximum impact.

“This album is the culmination of everything we have,” says Henry.
“While collaborating again with Michael, we brought Romesh in specifically for the mix because we were obsessed with making every single note count. The result is a sound so big, it’s a stadium experience for your ears.”

Say less. We’re sold. 🏟️🔥
