Disclaimer: At The Riff Report, we believe in building a festival world where everyone can headbang, mosh, dance, or chill in a safe space – especially our disabled community. That’s why this post hurts to write. We want to support, champion, and shout for those who need assistance – not gatekeep or judge. But what we’ve seen recently has left us gutted. 😞

What’s Occurring?

The Nibus Music Festival Access Card is a brilliant concept – designed to help disabled and neurodiverse fans navigate festivals with dignity and ease. It provides vital support like access to viewing platforms, accessible loos, and quiet spaces. Basically, it’s there so people can actually enjoy the music without fighting against barriers most of us take for granted.

But here’s the problem: people are abusing it.

We’re talking about folks who clearly don’t need access support using false claims to get access cards, just so they can skip queues or get the β€˜best view’ – while those who genuinely need that space are left behind. Some disabled fans couldn’t even see their favourite artists at recent gigs because the raised platform was crammed with standing, able-bodied people filming TikToks. Are you joking?! 😑

Facebook Hacks?! Seriously?!

What’s got us even more tamping is that this isn’t just a few cheeky chancers – there are Facebook groups actively sharing tips and β€œscripts” on how to get a Nibus card under false pretences. We’ve seen screenshots where people are being coached on what to say, which conditions to falsely claim, and even how to β€œcry on the phone” to get approved.

πŸ”Ž Yes, this is actually happening.

This isn’t just dodgy – it’s disgusting. It’s fraud, plain and simple. But worse than that, it’s spitting in the face of every fan who’s struggled just to get to the front barrier without being shoved aside or told β€œyou don’t look disabled.”

Let’s be crystal clear:
If you’re taking advice from these groups, you’re not gaming the system – you’re breaking it.

We’re Tamping, Butt.

We didn’t want to write this. Truly. But we’re tamping, and we know we’re not the only ones. So many disabled fans have been speaking out – bravely – about the abuse of systems that were put in place for them. They shouldn’t have to beg for space at a gig. They shouldn’t feel like they’re a β€˜burden’. They shouldn’t be pushed aside by people faking need for a bit of VIP treatment.

This is not about hidden disabilities – we know full well that not every disability is visible. We stand firm with our neurodiverse community, chronic illness warriors, mental health battlers, and anyone who’s ever had to justify why they need support.

But we also know what exploitation looks like. And some of you lot are taking the absolute…

Don’t Ruin This For Everyone Else

If you’re lying to get a Nibus Access Card – you’re ruining it for everyone. Full stop.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ¦½ You’re making it harder for people with genuine need to be believed.
🎟️ You’re putting future schemes at risk of being scrapped altogether.
❀️ And you’re disrespecting the community that access systems were built to protect.

It’s like pushing your way to the front of the mosh pit while someone else is stuck in a wheelchair behind you, crying because they can’t see. That’s not rock ‘n’ roll. That’s just shameful.

To Everyone on the Access Platform – We See You πŸ‘€πŸ’•

To every single one of you out there who’s got a legitimate Nibus card and is using the accessible platform: keep safe, take care of yourself, and don’t feel guilty for taking up space.

If you need a break from the crowds, the noise, the chaos – take it.
If you need some quiet, fresh air, or just a breather – have it.
You’re not a burden. You’re not being dramatic. You’re allowed to look after yourself. πŸ–€

🎢 Music is meant for you, too. And we’ll always fight for your right to enjoy it without hassle.

Final Words – With a Heavy Heart πŸ’”

We never thought we’d need to post this. Honestly, we’re gutted. But this isn’t about policing fun – it’s about protecting the people who often get left behind.

To the disabled fans reading this: we see you. We’re sorry you even have to fight this fight. We stand with you – and we’ll keep shouting for better.

To everyone else: C’mon butt, do better.

And to those posting dodgy advice in Facebook groups?
You’re not community leaders. You’re con artists in a band tee. And you’re hurting the exact people music is meant to bring together.

πŸ’₯ Respect access. Respect the community. Respect the music. πŸ’₯
