Russia’s brutal death metal destroyers are finally back after FIFTEEN YEARS… and mun, this thing sounds like it crawled straight out of a flaming pit beneath the earth. 🔥🤘
There are albums that hit hard… and then there are albums that feel like being repeatedly launched headfirst through a meat grinder while a demon screams ancient curses directly into your soul. Welcome to Cranial Osteotomy’s long-awaited second album, Vortex Of The Dark Knowledge — arriving July 10th 2026 via Comatose Music.
And tidy lord above… this one is an absolute monstrosity. 😈
After fourteen years in the making and fifteen years since their debut Victim Of Wicked Sickness first melted faces off unsuspecting death metal maniacs, the Russian brutal death metal machine has erupted back into existence with an album soaked in gore, darkness, occult dread and enough crushing riffs to flatten a cathedral.
🌪️ INTO THE VORTEX, BUTT…
From the opening atmosphere of ‘Praecursor’, you already know you’re not walking into a normal death metal album. This is less “album intro” and more “ritualistic descent into a cursed underground tomb where everybody definitely dies horribly.” Lovely stuff. ❤️
Then comes ‘Thanatomorpheus’ — and GOOD GRIEF. The track explodes into life with monstrous drums, grotesquely heavy guitars and vocals that sound like a crypt demon gargling molten tar. The riffs twist and mutate like some cursed biological experiment while warped melodies slither through the chaos like hallucinations in a fever dream.
Honestly, this album doesn’t just play… it CONSUMES. 💀
Tracks like:
- ‘Dipping Into Sombre Quagmire’
- ‘Structures Of Decadence Impurity’
- ‘Cathedral Butchery Feast’
- ‘Scorched Diadem’
…all pile on layer after layer of crushing brutality, suffocating atmosphere and stomach-turning heaviness. There’s no breathing room here, mun. No nice little melodic break for your nan. Just relentless, bone-snapping sonic devastation from start to finish.
It’s the kind of album that makes you pull the classic metalhead face in public transport and frighten innocent commuters. Proper job. 🚆😤
🔥 HEAVY AS A WELSH PUB AFTER SIX PINTS
Production-wise, Vortex Of The Dark Knowledge sounds absolutely savage.
Mixed at Impulse Studio and mastered at Gravestone Studio, the album hits with terrifying force while still letting every disgusting riff crawl through the speakers dripping in filth and menace.
And then there’s the artwork from Marco Hasmann — whose previous work with bands like Fleshgod Apocalypse and Kraanium already tells you this isn’t going to be sunshine and rainbows. The artwork looks exactly how the album sounds: horrifying, oppressive and gloriously unhinged. 😈🎨
⚔️ THE LINE-UP OF DESTRUCTION
Cranial Osteotomy are:
- Vladislav Melnik — Drums 🥁
- Vladimir Pomytkin — Guitar 🎸
- Vad Moskalenko — Vocals/Guitar 🎤
- Vitaliy Sturk — Bass 🔥
🩸 FOR FANS OF…
If your daily playlist already includes absolute legends like:
- Suffocation
- Skinless
- Internal Bleeding
…then this album is basically mandatory listening.
🎧 FINAL RIFF REPORT VERDICT
Vortex Of The Dark Knowledge is not subtle. It’s not polite. It’s not interested in your wellbeing.
It’s a suffocating black vortex of riffs, gore, dread and pure brutal death metal carnage — and after such a massive wait, Cranial Osteotomy have delivered something genuinely monstrous. This could easily end up being one of the filthiest and heaviest releases of 2026. 🤘🔥
Get your neck braces ready now, butt.
