🤘Here’s your full-fat, riff-soaked, Welsh-powered Riff Report blog post!
🎸🤦♂️ THE IDIOTS HAVE RETURNED… AGAIN
Beavis and Butt-Head – the two greatest intellectuals of our time (fight me) – made their massive comeback in 2022 on Paramount+ after years buried in the pop-culture graveyard. We got a new movie (Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe), fresh episodes, and the beautiful return of “heh-heh… fire…” echoing through living rooms once more. Tidy as a new pair of Docs, mun.
But THEN…
💥 BOOM!
They only went and returned again in 2025, this time on Comedy Central, kicking off on 3 September 2025 like absolute weapons ready to torch what remains of the world’s collective IQ.
Front row seats? Sorted.
Nostalgia levels? Over 9000.
Brain cells? Gone. 😆🔥
📺💀 BUT HERE’S THE BIG QUESTION…
Is Beavis & Butt-Head still the same without the iconic music video segments?
Ahhh yes. The sacred ritual.
Two teenage morons sitting on a sofa, roasting music videos like it was their second full-time job.
Those segments weren’t just filler. They were THE HEART of the show. The riffs. The insults. The absolute chaos. They shaped an entire generation’s music taste – whether we admit it or not. 🤘😂
But now, with licensing being more expensive than a pint at Glastonbury, the modern-era episodes don’t always feature the classic music video commentary we grew up loving.
So… has the magic gone? Let’s dive in, butt.
🔥🔥 WHAT MADE THE MUSIC VIDEOS SO GOOD?
The OG magic formula was simple:
🎵 Music video plays
👬 Two idiots mock it
🤣 Comedy gold every single time
They took the piss out of grunge bands, metal bands, boy bands, anything MTV threw at them. It was raw, chaotic, and beautifully dumb. Like watching your mates heckle Kerrang! TV at 3AM after a night out in Cardiff.
Without that? The vibe does shift. There’s no denying it.
🤘💡 SO WHAT DID THE 2022–2023 & 2025 SHOWS DO INSTEAD?
Mike Judge (absolute legend, tidy bloke probably) adapted.
With music video rights becoming a nightmare, the revived show started reacting to:
📱 TikToks
📹 YouTube clips
🧪 Science videos
🎨 Art tutorials
👀 Random internet chaos
🔬 Weird educational content (aka butt: “uhhh… huh huh… this sucks.”)
And honestly? It works way better than you’d think.
Internet content gives them MORE to laugh at, MORE to misunderstand, and MORE opportunities to be complete weapons. And in 2025, the Comedy Central run leaned even harder into reacting to modern stupidity.
It’s still Beavis. It’s still Butt-Head.
They’re still dumb.
They’re still dangerous.
They still make you choke on your cuppa laughing.
🎤🔥 DOES IT FEEL THE SAME?
Short answer?
No. But also… YES, butt.
🎸 NOT THE SAME:
❌ The OG music video roasting was special
❌ That MTV grainy vibe is gone
❌ Nostalgia goblins might cry into their denim jackets
💥 STILL THE SAME CHAOS:
✔️ The humour is STILL juvenile genius
✔️ Mike Judge is still steering the ship
✔️ The boys are older but no smarter
✔️ The modern clip reactions slap harder than expected
✔️ The episodes still feel like Beavis & Butt-Head being Beavis & Butt-Head
Think of it like when your favourite band stops doing 12-minute guitar solos.
Yeah, you miss it…
But the riffs still rip, mun. 🎸🔥
🧠 FINAL VERDICT (SHOUT IT IN A GLASWEGIAN ACCENT):
“AYE, IT’S STILL BEAVIS & BUTT-HEAD, YA DAFTY!”
Even without the iconic music videos, the new era of the show still captures their glorious idiocy. The humour hits, the timing slaps, and the world is stupid enough that the boys never run out of material.
Would it be EVEN BETTER with music videos?
Absolutely.
Would we still watch them stare at a toaster for 20 minutes and argue about it?
Also yes. 😂🔥

Above all, Michael believes rock and metal are about more than music—they’re about community, friendship, and creating memories that last a lifetime. That’s exactly what The Riff Report exists to celebrate.
