Alright you lovely lot⦠grab a pint, pull up a sticky festival chair, and prepare yourselves ā because something VERY suspicious is crawling through the rock world right now šŖ³š„
Yep⦠weāre talking about the unstoppable legends themselves, The Rolling Stones⦠and a bizarre little name thatās suddenly everywhere:
āTHE COCKROACHESā
And no⦠this aināt a dodgy pub band playing covers of Brown Sugar on a Tuesday night in Newport š
šŖ³ POSTERS, WEBSITES & PURE ROCK āNā ROLL MYSTERY
Out of absolutely nowhere, cryptic posters have started appearing like mushrooms after a Welsh downpour š§ļø
Minimal design. No explanation. Just the name:
THE COCKROACHES
And to make things even more chaotic ā thereās now a mysterious website floating about too. Barebones. Cryptic. Proper āsomethingās comingā energy.
No lineup.
No dates.
No clue whatās actually going on.
Just enough to send fans into a full-blown meltdown on socials š¤Æ
šø HOLD UP⦠THAT NAME RINGS A BELL
Hereās where things get juicy, mun š
āThe Cockroachesā isnāt random ā itās actually one of the early names used by The Rolling Stones back in their scruffy, blues-drenched beginnings before they took over the world.
So yeah⦠this aināt coincidence.
This is vintage Stones-level mischief š
š¤ WHAT COULD IT MEAN? LETāS HAVE IT
Right, gather round ā letās break this down like a post-gig kebab analysis šš„
šļø SECRET GIGS INCOMING?!
Can you imagine itā¦
Tiny sweaty venues.
No phones allowed.
Pints flying.
And Mick Jagger strutting about like itās 1964 again.
Weāre talking once-in-a-lifetime chaos.
The kind of gig youād tell your grandkids about (if you remember it).
šæ NEW MUSIC ERA?!
After smashing it with Hackney Diamonds, could the lads be gearing up for something a bit more raw and back-to-basics?
No gloss.
No fluff.
Just dirty riffs, blues swagger, and attitude for days.
Proper rock ānā roll, butt š¤
š„ THROWBACK DOC OR SECRET PROJECT?
Or maybe ā just maybe ā weāre getting something deeperā¦
A documentary?
Rare recordings?
Lost footage from the early days?
Give us grainy footage, dodgy haircuts, and absolute madness backstage. Weāll lap it up š
š THIS HAS āSTONES CHAOSā WRITTEN ALL OVER IT
Letās be honestā¦
This is EXACTLY what The Stones do best.
- Cryptic clues āļø
- Random throwback references āļø
- Fans spiralling into conspiracy theories āļø
Itās like theyāve pressed the big red button labelled:
āCAUSE HAVOC ON THE INTERNETā
And we are LOVING it š
ā” RIFF REPORT VERDICT
Is anything confirmed? ā
Are we losing our minds anyway? ABSOLUTELY ā
š„
Whether itās:
- Secret gigs
- New music
- A nostalgia trip
- Or just the lads having a laugh
One thingās nailed on:
When The Rolling Stones twitch⦠the entire rock world feels it.
And right now?
Somethingās definitely crawling ššŖ³
š£ļø RIFF CREW ā YOUR TURN
Alright then⦠whatās your take?
- Are we getting underground Stones gigs?
- New album incoming?
- Or is this the greatest wind-up in rock history? š
Sound off, you legends ā because if this kicks offā¦
Weāll be right there, front row, pint in hand, shouting:
āYESS MUNNNN!ā š¤š„

When heās not writing or interviewing artists, youāll probably find him exploring festival campsites, photographing live shows, chatting with fellow fans over a pint, or planning the next road trip in search of more riffs, bigger crowds, and unforgettable moments.
Above all, Michael believes rock and metal are about more than musicātheyāre about community, friendship, and creating memories that last a lifetime. Thatās exactly what The Riff Report exists to celebrate.
Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Always chasing the next great riff. š¤

The Stones have been recording a new album for over a year using songs they recorded for HACKNEY DIAMONDS & additional new ones. It has been rumored that they are about to announce its release very soon. This new album was going to be the basis for an European Tour this Summer, but due to Keith Richards’ health issues, they decided to forgo the tour. That said, the new album is ready & I’d bet this is the reason for this new announcement on April 11.
We shall see!
