December ain’t just mince pies, awkward family dinners, and Mariah Carey taking over the radio again. Oh no, mun — it’s also the month a bunch of absolute rock & metal legends blew out their candles (or set fire to the whole cake 🤟). From the Prince of Darkness to whiskey-fuelled road warriors, December’s packed tighter than a sweaty pub gig with iconic birthdays.

So grab your Santa hat, raise your pint, and let’s scream “Happy Birthday ya riff-lords!” 🎤🔥

🎁 1 December – Double Trouble

  • Eric Bloom (Blue Öyster Cult) – The man who made cowbells cool and carried the Cult into rock history.
  • Chris Poland (Megadeth) – Guitar wizard who shredded thrash riffs faster than Santa’s sleigh on turbo mode.

Tidy way to kick off the month, innit? Two absolute legends in one day!

🦇 3 December – Ozzy Osbourne

The Prince of Darkness himself. Black Sabbath frontman. Reality TV chaos-magnet. Bat-biter. Meme king. And still the most loveable Brummie to ever mumble into a mic. OZZY! 🕯️🎤 Every December 3rd we raise a pint of JD and whisper, “Scream for me Birmingham!”

🎸 10 December – Wolf Hoffmann (Accept)

Accept’s six-string general and the master of German metal. Wolf blended metal riffs with Beethoven-level classical flair. Neoclassical shredder? More like neoclassical sledgehammer!

🎂 18 December – Chaos Triplets

  • Mille Petrozza (Kreator) – Thrash godfather, still screaming like Armageddon’s on speed-dial.
  • Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) – Basically indestructible. Scientists still can’t work out how Keith is somehow immortal while looking like he’s been dead since 1972.
  • (Bonus shout) Billie Eilish – Not metal, but still dark enough to sit at the goth kids’ lunch table.

December 18th? That’s one hell of a party. Imagine Keith and Mille on tequila shots… diolch but no thanks. 😂

🐱 20 December – Peter Criss (KISS) & Anders Odden (Cadaver)

From the Catman’s iconic “Beth” ballad to Odden’s frosty Norwegian riffs, December 20th’s got you covered whether you’re in facepaint or corpse paint.

☠️ 21 December – Bobby Liebling (Pentagram)

Doom metal’s haunted uncle. Pentagram wouldn’t exist without his twisted mind, even if half his stories sound like they were scribbled on a napkin at 3am in a dive bar. Respect. 🤘

🌊 23 December – Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) & Dave Murray (Iron Maiden)

Two giants born just before Santa comes down the chimney:

  • Vedder’s voice can melt an iceberg.
  • Murray’s solos? Pure Maiden magic, slicing through arenas like Excalibur.

That’s a one-two punch of grunge soul and NWOBHM steel, tidy as you like!

🥃 24 December – Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead)

Born Christmas Eve. Died a legend. Lemmy is basically Santa for rockers, except instead of presents he delivers Jack Daniels and tinnitus. Raise your glass (and your middle finger) to the man who was Motörhead. 🎅⚡

🎄 25 December – Christmas Day Crew

  • Annie Lennox (Eurythmics) – Not metal, but what a voice!
  • Dido – The queen of chill, even if she’s not exactly opening for Slayer anytime soon.

Still, imagine having your birthday stolen every year by baby Jesus and family turkey dinners. Brutal. 😂

🎤 Final Riff

So there you have it: December’s packed tighter than a Steelhouse campsite with riff-slingers, doom-lords, grunge poets, and immortal Stones. From Ozzy blowing out candles (and probably bats) to Lemmy smashing whiskey on Xmas Eve, it’s a month that proves rock ’n’ roll never takes a holiday.

So this December, when you’re sat in your paper crown pretending to enjoy sprouts, just remember: out there, somewhere, a rock god is raising hell on their birthday. And that, my friends, is proper job. 🥂🔥

Happy Birthday ya noisy legends!
