Everyone from The Riff Report is brokenโฆ but grinning like loons! ๐ตโ๐ซ๐ป
Well, cโmon buttโฆ what just happened?! Steelhouse Festival 2025 descended upon the mountain like a thunderstorm of riffs, beers, and beautiful chaos โ and now, as we crawl back down with our tent poles poking out of backpacks and glitter in places it shouldnโt beโฆ one thingโs clear:
WE ARE BROKEN.
Proper broken. Physically, emotionally, musically, and spiritually BROKEN.
But my godโฆ it was lush. ๐ค
๐ธ THE MOUNTAIN GIVETH, THE MOUNTAIN TAKETH YOUR VOICE
From the moment gates opened, you could feel it in the air โ that mix of cow dung, hot tarmac, and the unmistakable buzz of a real rock crowd ready to go feral. ๐ค
And Steelhouse delivered, mun. Louder than ever. Wetter than ever. Better than ever.
We got shredded by Sophie Lloyd, flattened by W.A.S.P. (were they syncing? ๐), blown away by Tailgunner, and got a proper cuddle from Dan Byrneโs surprise VIP acoustic set. It was like a three-day emotional rollercoaster with added pyro and bacon rolls.
Every band, from the openers to the closers, brought the kind of energy that could recharge a broken generator with sheer willpower alone. Weโll be dropping full reviews of each set over the coming days, so keep your eyes peeled for headbanging, hollering, and possibly some mild sobbing.
๐บ THE BEER WAS COLD, THE MOUNTAIN WASNโT
Look, we know Steelhouse has a rep for weather that could drown a sheep โ but this year?
Bit of sun, bit of rain, bit of โwhat fresh hell is this wind?โ โ perfect! ๐
Our VIP upgrade? Tidy, mun.
More toilets, a bar that didnโt require a quest, and a cracking view. Was it worth the ยฃ50? Full verdict incoming, but spoiler alert: you bet your soggy poncho it was.
And the food stalls? Honestly, weโd fight for another portion of that loaded chips monstrosity. Steelhouse grub hits differently when youโve not slept properly in three days and your dietโs been 90% Carling and cereal bars.
๐๏ธ CAMPING CARNAGE & COMMUNITY VIBES
Letโs not sugarcoat it โ camping was a war zone.
Broken gazebos, tent pegs flying through the air like tiny metal javelins, and that one guy who snored louder than the bloody main stage ๐คฏ
But also: cwtches from strangers, beers shared between bands, campfire singalongs, and midnight mosh recaps thatโll live in our hearts forever.
The Steelhouse crowd is something else. Itโs one giant weird, whisky-soaked, rock-loving family โ and we bloody love ya for it. ๐ค
๐ค THANK YOU, YOU GLORIOUS BASTARDS
To the organisers: you smashed it.
To the bands: you saved our souls.
To the punters: you are absolute legends.
To our legs: weโre sorry.
From merch hauls to muddy boots, from tailgates to tailspins, from โWHAT A SET!โ to โWHEREโS MY TENT?โ โ Steelhouse 2025 will go down as an all-timer. ๐
๐ UNTIL NEXT YEARโฆ
Steelhouse, you glorious beast. We came, we rocked, we got sunburnt and possibly mild trenchfoot. But we wouldnโt change a thing.
The mountain will sleep now, but come July 2026โฆ
weโll be back.
Tinnies packed. Horns high. And ready to do it all again.
Until then, keep your eye on The Riff Report for full reviews, merch rundowns, photo dumps, and post-festival blues therapy sessions. ๐ค
STEELHOUSE 2025 โ THANK YOU.
See you next year, ya beautiful maniacs.

Michael is the founder, editor, and chief riff wrangler behind The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock and metal publication built by fans, for fans. With a lifelong passion for loud guitars, unforgettable live shows, and the incredible community that surrounds rock and metal, he created The Riff Report to celebrate everything that makes the scene specialโfrom legendary headline acts and grassroots venues to rising bands that deserve to be heard.
A familiar face at festivals across the UK, Michael spends much of the year covering events including Download Festival, Bloodstock Open Air, Steelhouse Festival, Firevolt, Plumpton Revival, and many more. Whether heโs battling the Welsh weather on a mountainside, surviving a weekend in a muddy campsite, or squeezed against the front barrier with thousands of fellow fans, heโs always searching for the next great story to share.
As editor of The Riff Report, Michael writes festival guides, breaking news, album reviews, gig reviews, interviews, opinion pieces, nostalgia features, and behind-the-scenes stories from across the rock and metal world. His writing combines honest opinions, humour, and a genuine love for live music, bringing readers closer to the bands, festivals, venues, and people that keep the scene alive.
Michael is particularly passionate about supporting independent artists, local venues, charities, and the wider UK rock and metal community. He believes every band deserves a chance to be discovered and every festival has a story worth telling. Through The Riff Report, he aims to shine a spotlight on both the biggest names in rock and the future stars waiting to break through.
When heโs not writing or interviewing artists, youโll probably find him exploring festival campsites, photographing live shows, chatting with fellow fans over a pint, or planning the next road trip in search of more riffs, bigger crowds, and unforgettable moments.
Above all, Michael believes rock and metal are about more than musicโtheyโre about community, friendship, and creating memories that last a lifetime. Thatโs exactly what The Riff Report exists to celebrate.
Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Always chasing the next great riff. ๐ค
