Back in the late ’80s, when the UK thrash scene was absolutely spitting fire, Toranaga were leading the charge like a steel-plated juggernaut. Shoulder to shoulder with legends like Sabbat, Onslaught and Xentrix – this wasn’t a band hanging off the scene… they were driving it.
Two absolute belters of albums – Bastard Ballads and God’s Gift – plus live shows with heavy metal royalty like Manowar, Venom and Saxon… by all rights they should’ve been catapulted into arena-sized chaos.
But rock ’n’ roll can be a cruel mistress, mun.
Momentum stalled. Fate twisted. And Toranaga slipped into a long, frustrating hiatus.
⚡ THE REBIRTH – AND THE RESURRECTION ⚡
There was a savage rebirth in 2013 as The Bastard Son Of Toranaga, delivering the punishing Righteous Retribution. It proved the fire never truly went out… but that chapter didn’t last.
Fast forward to 2024 and BOOM 💥
Toranaga return under the banner Toranaga UK, led once again by the indefatigable powerhouse vocalist Mark Duffy – a man whose pipes clearly refuse to age like normal human equipment.
A storming EP, A New Order, landed in 2025 and sent a clear message:
This is not nostalgia.
This is unfinished business.
Since then? Touring with Onslaught and Xentrix again (full circle moment that, tidy!), plus smashing stages at Headbangers Open Air, Helicon and HRH Spring Break.
They’re not dipping a toe back in.
They’ve dived headfirst into the pit.

New single ‘Crash And Burn’ drops and it absolutely rips.
This isn’t sloppy thrash-for-the-sake-of-it chaos. This is precision weaponry. Crisp, slicing riffs that cut like a blade fresh out the forge. Tight rhythm work. Stunning lead guitar flourishes. And Duffy’s voice? Still powerful. Still commanding. Still dripping with character.
There’s control here. Poise. Proper songwriting maturity.
The track builds with tension, layer upon layer, before unleashing a fierce, incendiary chorus that demands fists in the air and beer in the other hand. 🍺🤘
It’s steeped in Toranaga’s roots but it’s not stuck in the past. There’s forward motion. Intent. Hunger.
This is a band who know exactly who they are – and exactly what they’re capable of.
