The Slipknot camp has been thrown into another almighty storm after reports claimed longtime turntablist Sid Wilson has been permanently removed from the band — but guitarist Jim Root has now dropped a cryptic message suggesting fans shouldn’t believe everything they’re reading.

And suddenly, Maggots everywhere are asking the same question:

What the hell is actually going on inside Slipknot? 🎭

🚨 Reports Claim Sid Wilson Is Out Of Slipknot

The metal world was rocked at the end of July when reports emerged claiming Sid Wilson had been permanently dismissed from Slipknot after an incredible 28 years with the masked Iowa giants.

Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998, becoming the chaotic turntablist behind the decks just as the band were preparing to explode onto the international metal scene.

But despite reports describing his departure as permanent, there’s one rather important detail here:

Slipknot themselves haven’t publicly confirmed that Sid has been fired.

Wilson hasn’t issued a detailed statement confirming his exit either, meaning we’re currently wandering around the Slipknot rumour mill with a torch, a questionable map and absolutely no idea where the exit is.

Proper metal chaos, mun. 🤘

👀 Then Jim Root Posted THIS…

While speculation was spreading like wildfire, guitarist Jim Root appeared to pour a massive bucket of mystery petrol onto proceedings.

Root reportedly shared Slipknot’s emotional track ‘’Til We Die’ on his Instagram Story before posting a message urging people not to automatically believe everything they read.

That’s certainly interesting.

The choice of song has particularly caught the attention of fans because ‘’Til We Die’ revolves heavily around unity, loyalty and sticking together.

Coincidence?

Possibly.

A deliberately cryptic message about Sid?

Also possibly.

And that’s precisely why the Slipknot fanbase has gone full detective mode. 🕵️‍♂️🎭

🎧 Sid Wilson Has Been Part Of Slipknot For Nearly Three Decades

Whatever eventually comes out of this situation, it’s difficult to overstate just how important Sid Wilson has been to Slipknot’s identity.

Joining in 1998, Wilson became #0 and completed the classic nine-member Slipknot line-up that would terrify parents, flatten festival crowds and change heavy music forever.

His scratching, samples and electronic madness became an essential ingredient in Slipknot’s sound.

But Sid wasn’t exactly known for quietly standing behind his turntables either.

Ohhhh no. 😈

This is a bloke whose early Slipknot performances regularly looked like somebody had accidentally released an escaped lunatic onto the stage.

Jumping from ridiculous heights.

Climbing equipment.

Launching himself around the stage.

Fighting with bandmates.

Generally behaving as though health and safety regulations were merely friendly suggestions.

Classic Sid.

And that’s why the possibility of Slipknot continuing without him feels so strange.

🎭 Slipknot’s Line-Up Has Changed Dramatically

The situation also reopens a conversation Slipknot fans have been having for years.

The legendary classic nine-piece line-up has gradually disappeared.

Bassist Paul Gray tragically died in 2010, while founding drummer Joey Jordison departed in 2013 before his death in 2021.

Percussionist Chris Fehn left in 2019 following a legal dispute, while longtime sampler and keyboard player Craig Jones departed in 2023.

Drummer Jay Weinberg, who had replaced Jordison and spent nearly a decade behind the kit, was also unexpectedly removed in 2023.

So if Wilson really has left, another enormous piece of the Slipknot puzzle will have disappeared.

From that iconic collection of nine masked maniacs, the band’s evolution has been dramatic.

And understandably, some Maggots are struggling with it.

🔥 But Jim Root’s Message Changes The Conversation

This is where things get properly interesting.

Reports saying Sid has been “permanently” kicked out sound fairly definitive.

Jim Root telling people not to believe everything they read?

That sounds considerably less definitive.

So until Slipknot, Sid Wilson or somebody directly involved gives fans a clear statement, The Riff Report is treating Sid’s reported departure as exactly that — a report rather than confirmed fact.

Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned from decades of rock ‘n’ roll drama, it’s that the first version of events isn’t always the whole story.

Sometimes it isn’t even in the same bloody postcode.

🤐 Sid Isn’t Talking Either

Adding another layer of mystery, Wilson was subsequently approached and questioned about his Slipknot status but reportedly declined to provide an answer.

Again…

Interesting.

If everything was completely finished, you’d perhaps expect a simple confirmation.

Instead we’ve got silence from Sid, silence from Slipknot and Jim Root telling everyone to be careful what they believe.

Someone get Scooby-Doo on the phone. We’ve got a mystery. 🔎😂

🎸 Why Sid Matters To Slipknot

Slipknot aren’t a normal band.

Never have been.

That’s the entire point.

Nine musicians weren’t necessary in the traditional sense, but together they created something absolutely monstrous.

Turntables collided with percussion.

Samples collided with riffs.

Industrial noise smashed into death metal, nu-metal, hardcore and outright sonic insanity.

And Sid’s contribution was part of that glorious mess.

Listen back to those early records and his presence isn’t decoration.

It’s woven into the atmosphere.

The scratching and electronics helped give Slipknot that strange, unsettling identity that separated them from virtually every other heavy band emerging around the turn of the millennium.

Take Sid away and you don’t suddenly stop having Slipknot.

But you do remove another ingredient from the recipe that created the monster in the first place.

🖤 Nearly 30 Years Of Brotherhood

That’s perhaps why this story has hit fans particularly hard.

Twenty-eight years in any band is enormous.

Twenty-eight years in Slipknot probably counts as several lifetimes. 😂

Wilson has experienced almost everything with the group: tiny shows, worldwide fame, platinum records, festival headline slots, tragedy, lineup changes and some of the biggest moments in modern metal history.

He wasn’t some touring musician brought in last Tuesday.

Sid Wilson helped build Slipknot.

Which makes the suggestion that he could simply be “kicked out” inevitably difficult for longtime fans to digest.

🎭 So… Is Sid Wilson Actually Out Of Slipknot?

Right now?

We need an official answer.

Reports claim he’s gone.

Jim Root appears to be telling fans not to take everything they’re reading at face value.

Sid isn’t giving anything away.

Slipknot haven’t provided the definitive public explanation everyone is waiting for.

Until that changes, there are more questions than answers.

And knowing Slipknot, that’s probably exactly how things will remain until they’re ready to reveal whatever comes next.

🤘 The Riff Report Says…

Slipknot have survived tragedy, departures, lawsuits, replacement members and enough behind-the-scenes drama to fill several seasons of a Netflix series.

But Sid Wilson potentially leaving feels different.

He’s one of the instantly recognisable characters who helped transform nine masked nutters from Iowa into one of the biggest metal bands on the planet.

If he’s genuinely gone, that’s another huge chapter of classic Slipknot history closing.

But Jim Root’s message has given Maggots reason to hold fire before declaring #0 officially finished with the Knot.

So we’re keeping the masks on and watching this one closely. 👀🎭

Because something tells us…

there’s more to this story yet.

🤘🔥 Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. This is The Riff Report. 🔥🤘

What do you reckon, butt? Is Sid genuinely finished with Slipknot — or is there something else going on behind the masks? 🎧💀
