Durst, visibly shaken, took to social media late Sunday night to remember his longtime bandmate and friend — calling Sam “a true legend, brother, and the heartbeat of Limp Bizkit.”
“Sam wasn’t just the bass player. He was the groove, the soul, the silent thunder behind everything we did. I can’t even imagine this band — or my life — without him. We grew up together, built this crazy dream from scratch, and we made some wild memories. I’ll carry him with me forever.”
Rivers — known for his monstrous tone and unshakable stage presence — was a founding member of Limp Bizkit alongside Durst, Wes Borland, and John Otto. His pounding, funk-infused basslines helped shape the band’s explosive sound across albums like Significant Other, Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, and Results May Vary.
The cause of death has not yet been made public, but tributes have been flooding in from across the rock world.
