After an incredible weekend at Download Festival 2026, reality has come crashing back down harder than a Slipknot breakdown.
The tents are packed away, the muddy boots are drying out, the camera batteries are finally charging, and The Riff Report crew have officially returned to the office.
The only problem?
Weβre running on approximately three hours of sleep, enough caffeine to power a small village, and pure rock βnβ roll determination.
As we walked back through the office doors this morning, there was one thing on our mindsβ¦
Greggs.
Forget energy drinks. Forget motivational speeches. Forget healthy breakfasts.
A Greggs breakfast and a giant coffee were the only things standing between us and accidentally falling asleep on our keyboards.

What a weekend it was.
From massive headline performances and surprise appearances to discovering new bands and catching up with familiar faces, Download once again proved why it remains the spiritual home of rock and metal in the UK.
The atmosphere throughout the festival was incredible. Whether you were down the front in the arena, hanging out in District X, meeting fellow music fans, or enjoying a well-earned drink between sets, there was something special happening around every corner.
The Riff Report spent the weekend doing what we love most:

- Covering as much of the festival as humanly possible π₯
By Sunday night we were absolutely exhaustedβ¦ but weβd do it all again tomorrow.
π΄ Maybe We Should Have Taken One More Day Offβ¦
Letβs be honest.
Returning to work the day after Download probably wasnβt our smartest decision.
Somewhere between the final bands on Sunday and the alarm clock going off the next morning, it became painfully obvious that a recovery day might have been a sensible idea.
Unfortunately, rock journalism waits for nobody.
The news keeps rolling in, bands keep announcing tours, festivals keep making announcements, and stories keep needing to be written.
So here we are.
Back in the office.
Trying our best to remember passwords.
Wondering why our legs still hurt.
And questioning whether standing in fields for four days should count as an Olympic sport.

One of the biggest highlights of the weekend wasnβt just the bands.
It was the people.
A massive thank you to everyone who stopped to say hello, everyone who chatted with us over the weekend, and all the photographers, content creators, festival staff, security teams, traders, and fellow Downloaders who helped make the weekend such a brilliant experience.
The rock and metal community remains one of the best communities anywhere in the world.
Every year Download feels like a family reunion, and 2026 was no exception.

The coffee is flowing.
The Greggs bags are empty.
The exhaustion is real.
