Green Lung have officially returned from the occult underworld with the announcement of their fourth studio album, Necropolitan, arriving on Friday September 11th 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records — and honestly? The whole thing sounds like the soundtrack to a haunted cathedral collapsing into a doom festival during a thunderstorm.
Which, naturally, means we’re VERY interested. 😈
The Funeral Bell Is Tolling 🔔
After spending the last few years becoming one of the UK’s most beloved modern heavy bands, Green Lung are back with an album that promises to be darker, rawer and heavier than anything they’ve unleashed before.
And if you’ve ever stood in a sweaty venue while Green Lung absolutely flattened the room with colossal riffs and enough Hammond organ chaos to wake the dead, you already know this band don’t do things quietly.
Recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios with producer Tom Dalgety — known for his work with Ghost and Opeth — the band apparently stripped everything back to capture their monstrous live sound properly.
That means less studio polish… and more pure, Sabbathian riff worship.
Big guitars. Haunted Mellotrons. Frenzied Hammond organs. Doom-laden atmosphere thick enough to spread on toast.

London’s Occult Underground Comes Alive 🕯️
According to the band, Necropolitan acts as both a celebration of nature’s power over mankind and a tribute to the occult history and heavy music culture of London itself.
And let’s be honest — Green Lung have always sounded like a band who discovered an ancient cursed riff buried underneath a Victorian pub cellar somewhere.
The album reportedly combines the massive hooks of This Heathen Land with a far heavier and more uncompromising edge. It’s still dramatic, still melodic, still packed with storytelling… but now it sounds like it wants to drag you into the crypt with it.

‘Evil In This House’ Is An Absolute Monster 👻🔥
Alongside the album announcement comes brand-new single ‘Evil In This House’ — a track the band describe as:
“What would it sound like if a stoner metal band carried out a paranormal investigation?”
Answer: absolutely colossal.
The track stomps in with riffs that sound like Black Sabbath accidentally summoned a demon while recording in a fog-covered castle basement, before exploding into eerie synths and enough gothic swagger to soundtrack every haunted VHS tape from the 1970s.
The accompanying music video leans fully into vintage haunted house horror vibes too — creepy corridors, ghostly visuals and enough occult energy to make your nan unplug the television.
Proper spooky behaviour.
