Well folks… today is a good day. Scratch that — today is a flipping EPIC day. Because nestled in my inbox like a golden riff from Slash himself was the email that gets every rocker’s heart thumping harder than a double kick drum.
💌 “Your tickets for Steelhouse Festival have been dispatched.”
Say it louder for the mosh pit in the back! 🔊🎉
That One Email That Hits Harder Than a Power Chord
There are moments in life that truly matter:
- Your first gig 🤘
- Your first pint at a festival 🍺
- That glorious split-second when your tent actually stays up 🏕️
And now, let’s add:
📩 The “Your tickets have been dispatched” email.
It’s the virtual pat on the back from the gig gods. It’s proof that all those months of “Will it rain?”, “Who’s headlining?”, “Can I survive another Welsh hilltop hangover?” are finally becoming real. Steelhouse Festival isn’t just on the horizon — it’s coming in HOT 🔥
Steelhouse: The Mountain, The Madness, The Mayhem ⛰️🎸
If you know, you know.
For the uninitiated (who we will lovingly baptise in cider upon arrival), Steelhouse Festival is Wales’ loudest mountaintop celebration of riffs, legends, and tents held together by sheer hope.
Set up in the stunning Ebbw Vale hills, this isn’t your average festival. This is where the crowd sings louder than the PA. Where denim is religion. Where strangers become mates because you shared a bin bag poncho.
And now — thanks to the mighty Gigantic — my tickets are en route, probably hand-delivered by a roadie on a unicorn or a stoner sheep named Trevor. Either way, they’re coming. And I’m not ready. 🐑💨
What Happens Next?
So here’s the proper Welsh checklist of what’s about to go down now that my Steelhouse tickets are on their merry way:
✅ PANIC
Why? Because I still haven’t:
- Found my battered tent
- Washed my Steelhouse 2022 T-shirt (it’s got beer AND ketchup on it, diolch)
- Bought earplugs (even though I’ll pretend I don’t need them)
✅ GROUP CHAT EXPLOSION
“BOYS. THE TICKETS ARE ON THE WAY. WE RIDE AGAIN.”
(Immediately followed by a 67-message thread about beer rations and who’s driving the cursed Vauxhall Astra again.)
✅ WEATHER STALKING
You know the drill.
Ten times a day. BBC, Met Office, witchcraft, moon phases.
“I’ve seen it might not rain Friday now.”
Sure, Gav. Sure.
✅ THE PLAYLISTS BEGIN
It’s time to binge every band on the line-up until the neighbours start screaming “TURN DOWN THE MOTHERLOVIN’ THUNDER!”
Nope. It only goes up from here, Karen.
The Ticket Arrival Ritual 🕯️📬
Now we wait.
Like a druid summoning the gods of rock.
Every day the postie comes, I’ll be at the window like a riff-obsessed meerkat.
When that envelope lands? You already KNOW it’s getting the full ceremony:
- Framed on the fridge ✅
- Instagram story with a filter that screams “I’m not okay until I’m on the mountain” ✅
- Possibly weeping? ✅✅✅
Final Words (Before I Start Packing at 2AM)
Steelhouse Festival isn’t just a weekend — it’s a pilgrimage. A chaotic, rain-or-shine, beer-soaked, ear-ringing, soul-hugging celebration of why we fell in love with music in the first place.
So when that email hit? It wasn’t just about tickets.
It was a rallying cry.
A shout into the void:
“GET READY. WE’RE COMING HOME.”
See you on the mountain, you beautiful riffheads.
I’ll be the one screaming “I was TAMPING until this email came!” and double-fisting Greggs and Trooper Ale.
🏴 Steelhouse Family – Who’s got their tickets? Drop a YESS MUN! in the comments and tell us your first pit stop when you arrive!
📸 Don’t forget to post your ticket arrival photos and tag [@TheRiffReport] – we’ll feature our faves in a future blog and maybe even hand out a prize for the most chaotic camping setup 😈
Tidy. Just tidy.

Michael is the founder, editor, and chief riff wrangler behind The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock and metal publication built by fans, for fans. With a lifelong passion for loud guitars, unforgettable live shows, and the incredible community that surrounds rock and metal, he created The Riff Report to celebrate everything that makes the scene special—from legendary headline acts and grassroots venues to rising bands that deserve to be heard.
A familiar face at festivals across the UK, Michael spends much of the year covering events including Download Festival, Bloodstock Open Air, Steelhouse Festival, Firevolt, Plumpton Revival, and many more. Whether he’s battling the Welsh weather on a mountainside, surviving a weekend in a muddy campsite, or squeezed against the front barrier with thousands of fellow fans, he’s always searching for the next great story to share.
As editor of The Riff Report, Michael writes festival guides, breaking news, album reviews, gig reviews, interviews, opinion pieces, nostalgia features, and behind-the-scenes stories from across the rock and metal world. His writing combines honest opinions, humour, and a genuine love for live music, bringing readers closer to the bands, festivals, venues, and people that keep the scene alive.
Michael is particularly passionate about supporting independent artists, local venues, charities, and the wider UK rock and metal community. He believes every band deserves a chance to be discovered and every festival has a story worth telling. Through The Riff Report, he aims to shine a spotlight on both the biggest names in rock and the future stars waiting to break through.
When he’s not writing or interviewing artists, you’ll probably find him exploring festival campsites, photographing live shows, chatting with fellow fans over a pint, or planning the next road trip in search of more riffs, bigger crowds, and unforgettable moments.
Above all, Michael believes rock and metal are about more than music—they’re about community, friendship, and creating memories that last a lifetime. That’s exactly what The Riff Report exists to celebrate.
Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Always chasing the next great riff. 🤘
