🎤 April 1 – Susan Boyle

Born 1961
Okay, okay, NOT metal. But she once accidentally released an album with the hashtag #Susanalbumparty. That alone earns her honorary rock chaos points. 🤘😅

🎸 April 2 – Leon Wilkeson (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

Born 1952
The bassist with the hat and the attitude. Helped keep Skynyrd grooving through thick, thin, and Free Bird guitar solos that last longer than your nan’s Sunday roast.

🧨 April 3 – Sebastian Bach (Skid Row)

Born 1968
The hair. The lungs. The absolute carnage. Baz is glam metal royalty, and his high notes could make glassware explode in Merthyr. One of the last true screamers of the Sunset Strip era.

🎶 April 4 – Josh Todd (Buckcherry)

Born 1970
He made crazy bitch an arena anthem. Pure sleaze-rock energy. You wouldn’t trust him to house-sit, but you’d 100% go to his gig and lose your voice.

🥁 April 5 – Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)

Born 1966
Tone wizard. Makes a Strat cry like it’s being ghosted. Underrated as hell — his solo in Alive alone deserves its own birthday cake.

💀 April 5 – Layne Staley (Alice In Chains)

Born 1967
Gone far too soon. Layne’s voice was a weapon. Dark, beautiful, haunting. He didn’t just sing pain — he channelled it. Still missed every single day. 🖤

🎸 April 6 – Frank Black (Pixies)

Born 1965
The man who gave us loud-quiet-loud. Punk, alt, weird, and genius. Kurt Cobain basically copied his homework (with credit). Frank is a riff gremlin and we love him for it.

👅 April 7 – John Oates (Hall & Oates)

Born 1948
Not metal, but that moustache could headline Bloodstock. Rich Girl still slaps.

🎧 April 8 – Izzy Stradlin (Guns N’ Roses)

Born 1962
The quiet GNR MVP. While Axl was screaming and Slash was melting faces, Izzy was writing riffs that made Appetite for Destruction the beast it is. Criminally underrated.

🕊️ April 8 – Julian Lennon

Born 1963
Son of John, great voice, pop-rock sensibilities. Also proof that musical talent does run in the family. He’s the chill Lennon.

🔊 April 10 – Brian Setzer (Stray Cats)

Born 1959
Rockabilly shredlord. His pompadour has more power than most metal bands. Also turned a big band orchestra into a headbanger’s dream. Swing? More like SWING HARD.

🦇 April 12 – Herbie Hancock

Born 1940
Jazz? Sure. But Rockit is basically proto-industrial funk. Also: that synth solo? You’ve heard metal bands try to copy it and fail.

⚡ April 14 – Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple / Rainbow)

Born 1945
THE MAN. Smoke on the Water. Highway Star. Stargazer. If you’ve ever picked up a guitar, you’ve ripped off Blackmore. One of rock’s grumpiest, most legendary fretlords.

🎤 April 17 – Maynard James Keenan (Tool / A Perfect Circle / Puscifer / Wine)

Born 1964
Part vocalist, part philosopher, part chaotic cryptid. Maynard is a cult leader with a mic, and his screams have melted the minds of Tool fans for decades. Also makes wine. Because of course he does.

🎸 April 18 – Rick Moranis

Born 1953
NOT a rocker. But we’d pay money to see him front a Canadian thrash band. Bonus points if he does it in a Ghostbusters jumpsuit.

🥁 April 20 – Craig Frost (Grand Funk Railroad)

Born 1948
Keyboard player in one of America’s biggest 70s hard rock acts. Made organs sound filthy. The kind you’d hear before a bar brawl.

🔥 April 23 – Steve Clark (Def Leppard)

Born 1960
RIP to the riff king. His work on Pyromania and Hysteria made arena rock a religion. They didn’t call him “The Riffmaster” for nothing.

🦷 April 24 – Jack Blades (Night Ranger / Damn Yankees)

Born 1954
Glam. Hair. Harmonies. Absolute power ballad champion. If you’ve ever done a power slide across the kitchen floor with a mop as a mic — blame Jack.

🧠 April 26 – Gary Wright

Born 1943
Dream Weaver was sampled and covered so many times it’s practically immortal. That song lives rent-free in our brains.

🎸 April 27 – Sheena Easton

Born 1959
Another curveball — but Prince collaborated with her. And Prince is rock. Ergo, Sheena = honorary rocker. That’s maths. 🧮

🎂 April 28 – Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth)

Born 1953
Bass-playing goddess. No wave royalty. Fashion icon. Kim didn’t just play rock — she deconstructed it, set it on fire, and made art out of the ashes.

🤘 April 29 – Tommy James (Tommy James & the Shondells)

Born 1947
Crimson and Clover? Covered by Joan Jett. That earns you a seat at the rock’n’roll table.

🧨 April 30 – Johnny Galecki

Born 1975
He played Leonard on The Big Bang Theory — not metal at all. But in our hearts, he’s the bassist in a Rush tribute band.
