Well, that’s not the kind of jet airliner anyone wanted, mun… 🛩️💨
In what might be the most rock ‘n’ roll meets doomsday statement we’ve seen this year, the legendary Steve Miller Band have cancelled their entire 2025 summer tour, citing what basically amounts to Mother Nature going absolutely feral. Yep – extreme heat, flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes, and raging forest fires have forced the band to pull the plug before a single note has been strummed.
Their planned tour was due to kick off August 13 at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort Outdoor Stage in Mount Pleasant, Michigan – but now, fans will be left with nothing but “The Joker” on repeat and a weather app that looks like a horror movie trailer. 🌩️🌪️🌫️
Here’s what the band posted on socials:
“You make music with your instincts. You live your life by your instincts. Always trust your instincts.
The Steve Miller Band has cancelled all of our upcoming tour dates.
The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable.
So… you can blame it on the weather. The tour is cancelled.”
Talk about a mic drop from Mother Earth. 🎤💥
🌀 WHEN THE WEATHER WINS
Let’s be real – we’ve all been to festivals where you’re either roasted like a chicken or blown halfway to Swansea by a rogue gust of wind. But when the weather forecast reads like a biblical prophecy, you know it’s serious.
This isn’t just your standard “bit of rain” situation – we’re talking killer heatwaves, freak flooding events, and the sort of wildfires that make touring outdoors feel like a game of pyro roulette. The Steve Miller Band, who’ve been going strong since the ‘60s, clearly aren’t willing to risk it all for a gig, and honestly – fair play, butt.
🌍 A GROWING TREND?
Steve and the gang aren’t the first to pull out due to climate chaos. Earlier this year:
- A major jazz festival in the US was evacuated due to lightning strikes ⚡
- UK festivals have been rained out, dried out, and blown out more than your nan’s gazebo
- Glastonbury saw thunderstorms and droughts in the same weekend, because why not?
This is starting to look less like a one-off and more like a worrying new normal. Touring has always had its dangers – dodgy venues, dodgier promoters – but now the weather is the main headliner, and it’s not playing encores.

💸 WHAT ABOUT REFUNDS?
As of writing, no word yet on automatic refunds or rescheduled dates – but if you’ve got tickets, keep your eyes peeled on the Steve Miller Band’s official website and social channels for updates.
Hopefully, all ticket holders will be offered full refunds or credit for a future tour, assuming the planet cools down a bit and we don’t all have to wear SPF 5000 just to go outside.
