Tragic news rocks the Rush family once again ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿฅ

Tragedy has struck the Peart family for the second time. Danny Peart, the younger brother of the late Neil Peart โ€“ legendary drummer and lyricist of Rush โ€“ has died after battling the very same aggressive brain cancer (glioblastoma) that took Neilโ€™s life in 2020.

The heartbreaking news was shared by family members this weekend, confirming that Danny passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Fans of the Canadian prog-rock giants have been quick to send condolences online, remembering both brothers for their kindness, creativity, and the indelible mark Neil left on music.

Neil Peart, often hailed as one of the greatest drummers in rock history, died at 67 after a private three-year fight with the disease. Now, with Dannyโ€™s passing from the same illness, the Peart family faces yet another cruel blow.

The Rush community is rallying in grief, with many pointing out the eerie and devastating twist of fate: two brothers lost to the same rare cancer within just a few years. One fan wrote: โ€œThe Pearts gave us so much. Neil gave us Rush, and Danny gave Neil his roots. Rest easy, Danny โ€“ reunited with your brother in the big jam session in the sky.โ€ ๐ŸŽธโœจ

Rush themselves have yet to release a statement, but itโ€™s expected that Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson will pay tribute in the coming days, as they did so movingly for Neil in 2020.

Glioblastoma is an especially aggressive form of brain cancer, notoriously difficult to treat and with very low survival rates โ€“ something Neil himself fought bravely and privately for years before the news broke of his death.

This is yet another reminder of the fragility of life, even for those whose names are written in rock โ€™nโ€™ roll history forever. Our thoughts are with the Peart family, friends, and the millions of Rush fans across the world mourning not just Neil, but now Danny too.

Rest in Power, Danny Peart.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten. ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ’”
