Stop everything. Put Rumours on the turntable. Somebody fetch the emergency tambourine.
Because Lindsey Buckingham has once again dropped a few carefully chosen words about Stevie Nicks ā and Fleetwood Mac fans are now doing what Fleetwood Mac fans do best:
Speculating wildly. šš„
Buckingham has suggested that there could be more to come from his renewed relationship with Nicks, teasing that āquite a few things will reveal themselvesā as the pair continue communicating following years of very public tension.
Does that mean new music?
A Buckingham Nicks project?
A special performance?
Something connected to Fleetwood Mac?
Or ā whisper it quietly before the internet explodes ā some form of reunion?
Nobody knows yet.
But something certainly appears to be stirring.
And considering weāre talking about Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie bloody Nicks, even the slightest hint is enough to send the rock world into meltdown.
š BUCKINGHAM AND NICKS ARE TALKING AGAIN
Perhaps the biggest development isnāt actually a tour, album or anniversary celebration.
Itās simply this:
Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks are talking again.
Buckingham recently revealed that the pair are now communicating regularly following years of difficulties, with work surrounding an upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary apparently playing an important part in rebuilding relationships within the bandās surviving members.
For anyone whoās followed Fleetwood Mac for longer than five minutes, youāll know just how significant that is.
This is a band whose interpersonal relationships have produced enough drama to keep several Netflix series going until about 2047.
Love.
Break-ups.
Arguments.
Songs about the arguments.
Songs responding to songs about the arguments.
Performing those songs directly in front of the people the songs were written about.
Fleetwood Mac never did things the easy way.
And Buckingham and Nicks have always sat right at the centre of that glorious emotional hurricane.
š„ THE FLEETWOOD MAC DOCUMENTARY APPEARS TO HAVE HELPED
Fleetwood Mac are currently involved with an upcoming documentary for Apple TV, and Buckingham has described the process of making it as a healing experience.
Thatās important.
Buckingham left Fleetwood Mac in 2018 following another breakdown in relationships within the group, and the years afterwards werenāt exactly filled with warm fuzzy reunion vibes.
But time ā and perhaps the process of looking back at everything Fleetwood Mac achieved together ā appears to have changed things.
Buckingham has said that relationships between the surviving members have improved.
That includes Stevie Nicks.
And suddenly those reunion rumours donāt feel quite as completely bonkers as they once did.
šæ THEN BUCKINGHAM NICKS CAME BACK
Thereās another massive piece of this puzzle.
Buckingham Nicks.
Before Fleetwood Mac became one of the biggest bands on planet Earth, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks released their self-titled album together in 1973.
For decades, the record became something of a holy grail for fans.
Then, in 2025, it finally received its long-awaited official reissue.
And Buckingham has previously spoken about the renewed connection between himself and Nicks that surrounded the project.
Earlier in 2026, Buckingham suggested that there was a feeling of something being āin the airā regarding the pair working together again.
He stopped short of saying exactly what that might become.
But he expressed his belief that it could eventually translate into something positive and appropriate.
Now weāre hearing more intriguing comments.
You can see why everyone is getting excited, mun.
š„ āQUITE A FEW THINGS WILL REVEAL THEMSELVESā
And then comes the line thatās going to keep Fleetwood Mac fans awake at night.
According to Buckingham:
āQuite a few things will reveal themselves.ā
LINDSEY.
You cannot say things like that to Fleetwood Mac fans and then casually wander off.
Thatās basically throwing a steak into a shark tank. š
The crucial thing is that Buckingham hasnāt confirmed exactly what those āthingsā are.
Thereās currently no official announcement of a new Buckingham Nicks album.
Thereās no confirmed Buckingham Nicks tour.
And thereās certainly no confirmed full Fleetwood Mac reunion tour.
But the door that once looked firmly bolted shut appears to have opened slightly.
And thatās fascinating.
šø COULD BUCKINGHAM NICKS RIDE AGAIN?
Of all the possibilities, a Buckingham Nicks project would certainly be intriguing.
The pairās creative partnership predates Fleetwood Mac and ultimately helped lead them into the band.
Their voices together are instantly recognisable.
Their songwriting chemistry helped shape an entire era of rock music.
And their personal history has become almost inseparable from the songs themselves.
Imagine Buckingham and Nicks returning to that partnership more than five decades after their original album.
Even a handful of shows would be enormous.
A new song?
The internet would probably need rebooting.
A full record?
Good luck getting vinyl pressed quickly enough.
š¤ AND WHAT ABOUT FLEETWOOD MAC?
Hereās where things become considerably more complicated.
The death of Christine McVie in November 2022 changed Fleetwood Mac forever.
McVie wasnāt simply another member of the group.
She was one of its defining voices, writers and personalities, responsible for some of the bandās most beloved songs.
Any future Fleetwood Mac activity would therefore inevitably feel different without her.
Stevie Nicks has also previously expressed serious doubts about Fleetwood Mac continuing following Christineās death.
And thatās completely understandable.
But Fleetwood Macās surviving classic-era members ā Buckingham, Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie ā now appear to be in a considerably healthier place personally than they were several years ago.
Whether that translates into music remains unknown.
A tour might be unlikely.
A one-off performance?
An anniversary celebration?
Something surrounding the documentary?
Now those possibilities become interesting.
š„ RUMOURS TURNS 50
Thereās also one enormous anniversary lurking on the horizon.
2027 marks 50 years since the release of Rumours.
Yep.
FIFTY.
Weāll give everyone over 40 a moment to recover from that information.
Released in 1977, Rumours became one of the defining albums in rock history ā a masterpiece somehow created while relationships inside Fleetwood Mac were spectacularly disintegrating.
Buckingham and Nicks had broken up.
Christine and John McVieās marriage was ending.
Mick Fleetwoodās marriage was also falling apart.
Naturally, they responded by making one of the biggest records ever released.
Because apparently Fleetwood Mac considered emotional stability an unnecessary studio accessory.
The anniversary, combined with the documentary and the renewed communication between Buckingham and Nicks, creates a very interesting set of circumstances heading into 2027.
Coincidence?
Maybe.
But weāre watching closely. š
ā¤ļø PERHAPS THE BIGGEST STORY ISNāT A REUNION
As tempting as it is to immediately start designing imaginary Fleetwood Mac tour posters, thereās something genuinely lovely underneath all the speculation.
After decades of complicated history, Buckingham and Nicks appear to have found a way to communicate again.
These are two people whose lives have been connected since long before superstardom arrived.
They were musical partners.
Romantic partners.
Bandmates.
Rivals.
Collaborators.
And occasionally two human flamethrowers standing approximately six feet apart on the same stage.
Their relationship helped produce some of rockās greatest music, but it also clearly carried plenty of pain.
So if the only result of this latest chapter is that Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have managed to repair some of that relationship, thatās already something worth celebrating.
Anything musical would simply be a massive bonus.
š® SO⦠WHATāS COMING?
Thatās the million-pound question.
Buckingham isnāt telling us.
Nicks isnāt telling us.
And somewhere, Fleetwood Mac fans are currently analysing every Instagram post, interview quote and suspiciously placed tambourine like theyāre working for MI5.
Could we get another Buckingham Nicks project?
Could there be a special performance?
Could the Rumours anniversary lead to something bigger?
Could the Fleetwood Mac documentary provide the perfect moment for the surviving members to appear together again?
At this stage, itās all speculation.
But Buckinghamās words certainly suggest that thereās more to come.
And after everything Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have been through together across more than half a centuryā¦
Perhaps the strangest twist of all would be discovering that their story still isnāt finished.
Quite a few things will reveal themselves, apparently.
Oh, Lindsey.
You absolute tease. ššø
Whateverās occurring behind the scenesā¦
The Riff Report is watching.
š¤š„ Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud.
