Characters, Chaos, Seasons & the Wiki Deep Dive 🎧🔥
So, what’s occurring with this Metal Family madness taking over your Netflix “because you watched Headbangers Ball” algorithm? Is it a hidden gem? Is it chaotic? Is it proper metal?
Yes, yes, and absolutely YES, butt. Strap in, because this is more than just a cartoon — it’s a full-blown metalhead soap opera wrapped in eyeliner and Black Sabbath riffs.
🏡 WHAT IS METAL FAMILY?
Originally a Russian YouTube web series created by Alina Kovaleva, Metal Family exploded in popularity thanks to its killer soundtrack, unfiltered humour, and ridiculously relatable take on the dysfunctionality of loving heavy metal just a bit too much.
Netflix picked it up and launched a dubbed version — and now, Di, Vicky, Glam, and Chad are ready to mosh in your living room.
🎤 MAIN CHARACTERS – HEADBANGING AND HEARTFELT
💀 Glam
The eyeliner-loving dad. Glam looks like he’s in a glam metal band (hence the name) but secretly grew up under pressure in a classical piano hellscape. Genius IQ. Trauma galore. Hair better than yours. Think Dr. Rockso meets Beethoven with daddy issues.
“Why yes, I can play Chopin… while wearing a Slayer tank.”
🤘 Vicky
The absolute queen of rage and reason — Vicky’s the glue that holds the family together with a steel grip and killer sarcasm. She’s the type to yell “TURN IT DOWN” then secretly air-drum to Pantera.
🎸 Dee (aka Di)
The older teen son. Classic moody metalhead. Intelligent, introverted, intro to Iron Maiden on repeat. Dee’s got ambition, angst, and enough black t-shirts to clothe a whole Kerrang! photoshoot.
🥁 Heavy (aka Chad)
The younger sibling. Pure chaotic goblin energy. Worships his dad, eats like a raccoon in a bin, and drums on literally everything. Your nan’s biscuit tin isn’t safe. Think Taz with a Slipknot fixation.
📺 SEASONS AND EPISODE GUIDE
Currently on Netflix UK, Metal Family features Season 1 with 10 short but powerful episodes (6–12 minutes each). These are dubs of the original Russian shorts — don’t panic, the voice acting is solid, the humour translates, and it riffs.
🔥 Breakdown of Season 1 Highlights:
- Episode 1 – School Sucks: Dee deals with classic high school gatekeeping. (Why don’t they teach Dio in history?)
- Episode 3 – Glam’s Backstory: Flashbacks to his posh piano past and rebellious escape into metal.
- Episode 6 – Family Feud: Heavy glues Dee’s homework to a cymbal. Chaos ensues.
- Episode 10 – The Gig: Emotional wallop meets fist-pumping finale. Bring tissues and devil horns.
📚 THE METAL FAMILY WIKI – WHERE THE LORE LIVES
If you’re the sort who deep dives into character arcs and hidden symbolism in eyeliner smudges, then the Metal Family Wiki is your new best mate.
Here’s what you’ll find:
- ✍️ Full character bios (even side characters like the school headmaster who’s probs a Joy Division fan)
- 🎵 Soundtrack lists — original music, classical remixes, and those punchy metal riffs
- 🎨 Behind-the-scenes animation insights
- 📖 Fan theories (Yes, Glam is definitely on the neurodivergent spectrum. No, Heavy is not possessed… probably.)

Go wild, rabbit hole dwellers.
🧨 WHY IT SLAPS HARDER THAN A CROWDSURFER TO THE FACE
- Authenticity – It’s made by metalheads, for metalheads. No cringey stereotypes.
- Animation Style – Sharp, expressive, and stylised like if Metalocalypse and The Loud House had a baby at a Rammstein gig.
- Themes – Mental health, bullying, self-identity, creative pressure… all wrapped in blast beats.
- Soundtrack – Think Metallica, Beethoven, and Russian alt rock all in one mixtape.
👀 MORE COMING?
Fans are begging for Season 2, and the original creators have confirmed that more episodes are in development — some of which are available subtitled on YouTube if you really can’t wait.
Pro tip: Watch them while sipping a Monster and wearing fingerless gloves for maximum immersion.
🎧 FINAL VERDICT: SHOULD YOU WATCH IT?
If you’ve ever:
- Argued over who’s better, Dio or Ozzy
- Felt your soul stir when the amp buzzes
- Raised a metalhead child (or been one)
- Needed emotional support from a riff
…then Metal Family is your cartoon church.
It’s heartfelt, it’s headbanging, it’s hilarious. And it’s got more emotional depth than Lars Ulrich’s snare.
