Hold onto your bucket hats, Britpop disciples β Noel Gallagher has just shut down any last glimmer of hope for an Oasis reunion, and he did it with all the subtlety of a flying tambourine. In a surprise interview thatβs got the internet in a spin and Liam probably frothing at the mouth somewhere, Noel declared thereβs βno going back.β
Yep. Thatβs it. Done. Finito. The band that gave us Wonderwall, Donβt Look Back in Anger, and more sibling squabbles than EastEnders is officially not getting back together, according to the elder Gallagher himself.
π£οΈ βThereβs No Going Back.β
In classic Noel fashion β all Manc swagger and zero fluff β he told the press:
βThereβs no going back. Itβs done. That was then. This is now. Iβve moved on. People should too.β
Well, thatβs the mic drop of the year, innit?
For years now, fans have been praying to the gods of rock βnβ roll for a reunion β even just a one-off Glasto set. But Noelβs made it crystal: thereβs more chance of Keith Richards switching to decaf than Oasis sharing a stage again.
π The Reunion Tease: A Timeline of Torture
Letβs take a quick tour down memory lane, just to rub salt in the wound, shall we?
The Britpop Back-and-Forth:
- 2017 β Liam tweets a peace offering. Noel blanks him.
- 2019 β Liam says βThe reunion is happening.β (Spoiler: it wasnβt.)
- 2021 β Noel releases rare Oasis demo, fans lose their minds.
- 2023 β Liam tours Definitely Maybe solo. It bangs.
- 2025 β Noel saysβ¦ this. βοΈ
Every year we get a little spark β a cryptic tweet, a rumour, a reunion-worthy festival slot. And every time Noel rains on the parade like a proper Manc monsoon.
πͺ Glastonbury? TBA? Nevermindβ¦
Letβs be honest β the Oasis rumour mill goes into overdrive every time Glasto drops their lineup. And with over 60 TBA slots in 2025, fans were already half convinced this was The Year.
But unless Noelβs secretly pulling a double-bluff worthy of a Bond villain, this interview is the final nail in the nostalgic coffin.
π What About Liam?
Ah, our kid. The eternal Twitter gremlin. No official response yet, but if history tells us anything, weβre due one of the following:
- A βPotatoβ insult
- A cryptic tweet like βJust saying xβ
- A blurry photo captioned βWembley soonβ
Letβs face it β Liamβs not giving up the ghost just yet. And to be fair, heβs been smashing it solo. But somewhere deep in his Adidas-clad heart, heβs got to be gutted.
π§Ύ The Oasis Essentials β For the Youngβuns at the Back
- Formed: 1991 in Manchester
- Albums: 7, including the era-defining Definitely Maybe (1994) and (Whatβs the Story) Morning Glory? (1995)
- Split: 2009, after a backstage fight involving a plum (allegedly)
- Legacy: Sold 75+ million records, inspired a generation, and made bickering into an art form
πΆοΈ The Riff Report Verdict
So, whatβs the word from us?
Honestly? Weβre gutted. Not surprised. But gutted. Oasis defined a generation, gave us anthems we still scream in pub toilets at 2AM, and couldβve given us one last hurrah.
But maybeβ¦ just maybeβ¦ it’s better this way? Legends left untouched, like a pint you didnβt spill.
Still. Noel, if youβre reading this β donβt be a muppet, mate. Just one show. For the fans. For Knebworth. For the love of all things loud.
