Right then, Riff Report family… crack open a cold one and brace yourselves. 🀘

Ronald Belford β€œBon” Scott β€” the pint-sized pirate with the voice like a detonated whisky barrel β€” would have turned 80 years old on July 9, 2026.

EIGHTY.

And instead of a quiet candle and a Victoria sponge, the world is throwing a full-throttle, bagpipe-blaring, gold-plated rock β€˜n’ roll riot in his honour. As it should be.

🏴 FROM FORFAR TO FREMANTLE – THE MAKING OF A MONSTER FRONTMAN

Born in Forfar, raised in Kirriemuir, sharpened in Australia β€” Bon didn’t just sing rock music. He embodied it.

From early days in The Spektors and The Valentines, to progressive rock outfit Fraternity, and finally stepping into the leather boots of AC/DC in 1974, Bon brought swagger, grit, cheek and lyrical mischief that changed everything.

Six studio albums.
Six years.
Zero fluff.

By the time Highway To Hell landed in 1979, the fuse was lit.

Tragically, on February 19, 1980, the flame went out in London. But here’s the mad bit β€” the sound never did.

πŸ’° GOLD, SILVER & ROCK β€˜N’ ROLL RELICS

To celebrate Bon’s 80th, the Bon Scott Estate and Perryscope Productions have unleashed a merch and events plan that would make even Angus nod approvingly.

β€’ Studio legends Neumann are releasing a limited-edition signature product on Bon’s birthday. Audiophiles, steady yourselves.
β€’ The Perth Mint is issuing 1oz gold and 10oz silver collector bars bearing Bon’s likeness. The previous silver coin? Sold out faster than front-row tickets.
β€’ Aussie art icon Reg Mombassa has designed exclusive Bon 80 artwork for posters and tees.
β€’ Statue maestros KnuckleBonz are dropping their third Bon figure β€” this time based on the legendary 1978 Powerage tour. The earlier editions? Gone. Vanished. Like your hearing after standing too close to the PA.

This isn’t merch. This is museum-level riff archaeology. πŸ”₯

πŸ‘• BON IN TARTAN? GO ON THEN.

Bon may have preferred performing shirtless, but 2026 is delivering serious wardrobe swagger:

β€’ Dixxon Flannel Co. are launching a second limited Bon shirt in β€œHeritage” Tartan.
β€’ Copa Football are releasing a collectible β€œBon 80” football jersey.
β€’ The tartan itself was created with Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers of Edinburgh.

Bon in a kilt? Mate… Scotland approves.

πŸŽ₯ BON ON SCREEN – RARE FOOTAGE & ROCK TESTIMONIALS

The Estate has partnered with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation to bring exclusive Bon footage to his official YouTube channel.

Expect interviews and memories from the likes of:

β€’ Sammy Hagar
β€’ Scott Ian
β€’ Rick Springfield

The respect is universal. Bon wasn’t just a singer. He was a yardstick.

🏴 BONFEST 2026 – SCOTLAND TURNS IT UP TO ELEVEN

The 20th anniversary of Bonfest The International Bon Scott Rock Festival hits Kirriemuir on May 1–3, 2026.

Sold out. Obviously.

Line-up highlights include:

β€’ Reef
β€’ Former AC/DC drummer Chris Slade

There’ll even be a pop-up merch store at the site of the original Scott family bakery. If that doesn’t give you goosebumps, check your pulse.

Meanwhile, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame will host a special screening of Let There Be Rock: The Movie alongside exclusive memorabilia.

History done properly. None of this half-measure business.

⚑ THE SONGS STILL SHAKE STADIUMS

While the celebrations rage, AC/DC continue their massive PWR/UP tour through 2026 β€” and eleven Bon-era tracks are still smashing stadium roofs:

β€œIf You Want Blood”
β€œShot Down In Flames”
β€œHighway To Hell”
β€œSin City”
β€œJailbreak”
β€œDirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”
β€œHigh Voltage”
β€œRiff Raff”
β€œWhole Lotta Rosie”
β€œLet There Be Rock”
β€œT.N.T.”

That’s not nostalgia. That’s backbone.

πŸ‰ RIFF REPORT DRAGON VERDICT

Bon Scott didn’t sing about fantasy lands or poetic sunsets. He sang about graft, grafting, graft gone wrong, late nights, hard lessons, and the long road to the top.

He was cheeky.
He was dangerous.
He was real.

Eighty years after his birth and 46 after his passing, his voice still sounds like it’s about to tear the speakers apart.

And that, my friends, is immortality in leather trousers.

On July 9, crank it loud.
Spin Powerage.
Raise a glass.

Because legends don’t fade.
They just get louder. 🀘πŸ”₯
