Her family – especially her incredible mum Sylvia, who sadly passed in 2022 – turned grief into a mission. A mission to educate against hate, challenge prejudice, and make sure no one is ever targeted again just for being “different.”

🖤 WHO WAS SOPHIE?

For those new to the scene: Sophie Lancaster was just 20 when she and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were attacked in a park in Lancashire in 2007. Why? Because they looked different. Because they were goths.

Sophie never woke up. But instead of responding with hate, her mother Sylvia launched The Sophie Lancaster Foundation – a charity now internationally recognised for its work on hate crime, youth education, and social change.

And with your vote, they’ll have more funding to go into schools, festivals, councils and communities to spread the message of respect, inclusion, and understanding.
