Full Review by The Riff Report Blog – July 5, 2025
Stage: Back To The Beginning Main Stage
Band: SUPERGROUP B (Earth-shattering chaos from the UK + USA)
Time: Time ceased to exist. The amps rewrote the laws of physics. ⏳💥
💣 “WE ARE SUPERGROUP B… AND WE DIDN’T COME HERE TO BE QUIET!” – METAL’S MOST UNLIKELY DREAM TEAM DELIVER CARNAGE 🎤
If Supergroup A was rock’s Avengers… Supergroup B was the Suicide Squad with distortion pedals. 🤯
Thrown together in what can only be described as a beautiful mess of legends, lunatics, and lightning, this band wasn’t just a surprise – it was a full-blown sonic detonation. Fans were still recovering from Gojira and the legendary Drum-Off when Supergroup B turned the volume up to “obliterate.”
🤘 THE LINEUP – UNHOLY AND UNREAL
Vocals: Corey Taylor (Slipknot / Stone Sour) – screams, snarls, speeches, chaos.
Guitar 1: Kirk Hammett (Metallica) – wah-wah wizardry and horror movie faces 🧟♂️
Guitar 2: Jim Root (Slipknot / ex-Stone Sour) – full shredding monk mode
Bass: Nikki Sixx (Mötley Crüe) – glam, sleaze, and absolute punk venom
Drums: Joey Jordison tribute slot – performed by Eloy Casagrande (ex-Sepultura) = absolute machine
🔥 THE SETLIST – MASHUPS, MAYHEM, AND METAL MADNESS
- Surfacing (Slipknot opener – pit ERUPTED instantly)
- Shout at the Devil (Taylor + Sixx? Chaos incarnate 😈)
- Creeping Death (Kirk. Was. ON. FIRE.)
- Duality
- Psychosocial / Dr. Feelgood mashup (and it actually slapped)
- Wait and Bleed
- Wild Side (Corey screamed every word like it was a metal sermon)
- Frantic (yes… Metallica’s Frantic – with breakdowns!)
- Bother (Corey solo with Kirk on ambient horror guitar – spooky and stunning)
- Eyeless
- Final Encore: People = Shout at the Devil = Seek and Destroy mega-medley 🤯🔥
🎤 COREY TAYLOR – CHAOS COMMANDER, CROWD CONDUCTOR
Corey had 30,000 people in the palm of his blood-stained hand. One moment he was delivering guttural howls that made your fillings rattle, the next he was telling stories about Nikki Sixx giving him vodka at 9am.
He ended “Duality” with a mic drop – then picked it back up and screamed:
“WE’RE NOT DONE YET, YOU BEAUTIFUL METAL BASTARDS!”
Cue Psychosocial — INTO Dr. Feelgood. Brains = scrambled.
🎸 KIRK & JIM: THE RIFF TAG TEAM OF DOOM
Kirk’s solos had more wah than a toddler tantrum, and we loved it. His breakdown in “Creeping Death” had half the crowd in prayer stance.
Meanwhile, Jim Root played like he was summoning riffs from the underworld. Hoodie up. Hair everywhere. Finger-shredding like his strings owed him money. When he locked into a double solo with Kirk during “Frantic,” a nearby speaker literally caught fire. 🔥
🧷 NIKKI SIXX = GLAM METAL GOBLIN KING 👑
Strutting across the stage like he owned the apocalypse, Nikki brought pure rock star filth to the mix. He hit a bass note so low during “Shout at the Devil” that a lad next to us dropped his pint in slow motion. Beautiful scenes.
He licked his bass, spat Jack Daniels, and winked at the mosh pit. What a man.
🥁 ELOY CASAGRANDE = DRUM TANK MODE ENGAGED
This man was possessed. Double-kick pedals nearly flew off their hinges. He made “Eyeless” sound even heavier than Jordison ever did – and that’s saying something. There was a moment during “Frantic” where he hit a snare so hard, birds left the rafters. 🦅🥁
During the finale, he stood on his throne, threw sticks into the crowd, and just screamed.
🧨 CROWD VIBE: BRUTAL. HYSTERICAL. UNHINGED.
The pit? 100% chaos. People dressed as Corey. One bloke as a glam Nikki Sixx drag version (10/10). Fans held signs that said “Worship the Wah,” “SLIPCREW 4 LYF,” and “Corey, scream at me.”
Some fans fainted. Others just stared, mouths agape. One person got engaged mid-“People = Shout = Destroy.” Not sure if they remember it now. 😅
💀 BEST MOMENTS:
- Corey and Nikki trade vocals mid-song while Jim Root plays behind his back.
- Kirk’s “Bother” solo includes a lullaby version of “Nothing Else Matters” in the background. Stunning.
- Entire band kneels at end of set, looking skyward, then flips the bird to the heavens. Metal to the end.
🎯 FINAL VERDICT: THE GREATEST TRAINWRECK IN METAL HISTORY – AND WE LOVED EVERY SECOND
Supergroup B was wild. Unfiltered. Chaotic. Beautiful. Like mixing absinthe with TNT and giving it a mic.
You’ll never see this line-up again – and that’s part of the magic.
Score: 11/10 Flaming Wah Pedals 🔥🎸
Mood: Horns high. Mind blown. Soul slightly bruised.
Diolch, Supergroup B – you were utter bedlam and utter perfection.
