Rock ’n’ roll royalty Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs — founding guitarist of Oasis and one of the original architects of Britpop’s swagger — has heartbreakingly announced he’s stepping away from the band’s massive comeback tour following a prostate cancer diagnosis.
The 60-year-old Manchester legend shared the news in an emotional post on Instagram, revealing that he was diagnosed earlier this year but had continued touring after responding “really well” to treatment.
“I’m really sad to be missing these shows, but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America,” Bonehead told fans. ❤️
💬 “Feeling Good, But Time for a Break”
Bonehead explained that while his recovery is going strong, doctors have advised him to take a planned break to rest and focus fully on his health. This means he’ll be sitting out the upcoming Oasis tour dates in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney — some of the most highly anticipated stops on the band’s world tour.
For fans who’ve been waiting decades for this reunion, it’s a bittersweet moment. But if anyone’s earned a breather, it’s the man who helped build the wall of sound behind ‘Live Forever’, ‘Supersonic’, and ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Star’.
🎤 A Fighter, Through and Through
This isn’t Bonehead’s first health battle. In 2022, he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer, forcing him to take a break from touring with Liam Gallagher’s solo band. Against the odds — and with typical Manc grit — he came back swinging.
Now, fans are already flooding social media with messages of love and support, sending “get well soon, legend” posts faster than you can shout “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” 🫶

Oasis are set to continue their global run, with replacement guitarists expected to fill in for the next leg. But Bonehead made it clear: he’s not done.
